  2. Desktop Shortcut Icons

    Hi Mik-Dav,

The desktop shortcut created for a specific website should bear the website's actual logo. With what you've experienced, there could be something wrong with how the shortcut was created.

If you've created the shortcut by selecting Create shortcut, then we suggest that you try the other way, that is by dragging the website icon that appears in the address bar to your desktop. Follow these steps:

    • Using Internet Explorer, access a website.
    • Once the website opens, you will see its icon in the address bar.
    • Click and drag the icon on your desktop.

The website shortcut bearing its actual logo should now be saved on your desktop.

Let us know if you need further help.

    Regards.

  3. Desktop shortcuts vs desktop files - which is better?

    Hi,

I am Ganesh Gandhi, an Independent Advisor and Office Insider for Android. I am here to work with you on this:

As you asked, 'Desktop shortcuts vs desktop files - which is better'

    'Desktop shortcuts' thing is Better.

I recommend having your files in separate drive like D: or E: with a shortcut on Desktop, rather than having those files in Desktop.

Even you use folders in desktop with shortcuts to files in other drive.

Desktop files along with program files may be erased during a reinstall or system issue / restore process.

Files in separate drive like D: or E: are safe from getting erased.

Having Shortcuts (for files) along with program files in desktop rather than Files will speed up windows performance.

Do let me know if you require any further help on this. I will keep working with you until it's resolved.

    Creating Shortcuts with Batch File

No error, when I run the BAT file the CMD prompt shows and looks like it did stuff. But no shortcut on my Desktop.
