Windows 10: Windows 10 reset system stuck at 88%

I chose to give the fresh start function a try today as my 4year old laptop is really slow and kept shutting down on it self. I need to keep all my files as I have some school work and other important visa documents in my harddrive. It's been stuck on 88%for 2hours. I noticed that the percentage was on 96%, and then after the screen goes dark the percentage is stuck at 88%. I am a computer noob and was not sure what the version was.

All i need is to keep the documents. I fear if i force restart it my documents will lost. Help.

Windows 10 reinstallation Stuck at 88%

I was having an issue with my profile and so I decided to do a reset on my windows. I tried to do a limited restore that kept my files but the computer got to 88% and stuck. rebooted several times, used a boot disk to see if I could revert then changes.
naadaa. Any suggestions?

Windows 10 stuck at 88% with the configuring settings at 52%.

Thank you for posting your response.

I suggest you to create a Windows 10 installation media and perform a Startup Repair on the device and check if it helps to resolve the issue.
This is an alternate way to boot the device and run recovery tools when something goes wrong with the Operating system.

Please follow the steps below to do Startup repair:

          Insert the installation USB drive
          and boot Windows 10 from it.
          
          If you don't have one, you can Create an installation Media.
          
        • 
          In the ‘Windows setup’ page select the ‘language to install’, ‘Time and currency format’
          and the ‘keyboard or input method’ and click on ‘next’.
          
        • 
          Click on ‘Repair your computer’ and select ‘Troubleshoot’.
          
        • 
          Click on ‘Advanced options’ and select ‘Startup Repair’
          and select the operating system.
