Norton Download Manager continually pops up, telling me to install upgraded version of Norton. The problem with this is, I am not running Norton on my PC.

To eliminate the recurrent Norton Download Manager pop up, Norton support has several time-consuming unhelpful suggestions, which do not work, and Microsoft seems mum on the subject. I originally suggested going through File Explorer to delete the Norton
file FSDUI_NIS which is the file controlling the pop up. This worked for a while, then that file and the pop up came back, and continued to no matter how many times I deleted it. I figured there had to be some other hidden file that re-installs the pop up
control file. So I tried something drastic, but rather simple, which seems to have worked as I have had no more pop ups for over eight months now. This was what I did: Opened File Explorer, went to Windows
(CHow do I get rid of fake Norton pop ups? :) and entered Norton in the search box. It was amazing how many hidden files associated with Norton came up in the search. I deleted most of them, (except for those clearly associated with the Chrome browser, since Google uses Norton to protect Chrome,
which I use). One of the files deleted (who knows which one) must have been communicating with Norton and reinstalling the pop up control file. Since deleting all the Norton files that appeared in the search (except for those associated with Google's Chrome
browser) I have had no more annoying pop-ups in over six months now. . . . Just a couple reminders before you do the search and follow that procedure: First, the program uninstall feature should be used to get rid of Norton if it is installed on your computer,
and secondly, if the pop up is open, go through Task Manager (via the start menu or manually using the shift, alternate, delete keys) to highlight Norton Download Manager and select End Task to close out the pop up,

  3. Norton Download Manager continually pops up, telling me to install upgraded version of Norton. The problem with this is, I am not running Norton on my PC.

Original title: Enbedded Norton in WIndows 10

Recently upgraded PC to Windows 10. Norton Download Manager continually pops up, telling me to install upgraded version of Norton. The problem with this is, I am not running Norton on my PC. I have followed the steps recommended by Norton for removal of
this, however, the pop up returns after a short period of time. I have even had Norton access my PC, and they thought they had resolved the issue. The only thing this did was delay the return for about 12 hours. I am not running any Symantec software on
my PC, ergo, the issue seems to be embedded in the Windows upgrade. Norton is supposed to be a virus removal product, however it is clinging to WIdows in a manner that suggests that IT is a virus. Any ideas on how to get this finally off of my platform?

  4. How do I get rid of fake Norton pop ups?

Fake Java Update pop-up appearing on Windows 10.

Original Title: How To Remove Fake Java Update Pop-Up

I have been getting a Pop-Up for a fake Java Update. I have contacted Windows Help Desk 6 times and have received no help. Probably the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I will never buy another computer that has anything to do with Microsoft.
I've tried every malware and virus scan out there, and just can't get rid of it. HELP!!! The only other choice I can think of is to re-install the OS?
