    I have come across a strange bug with Hyper-V (will report to MS).

    I created a Windows Pro VM set up with my MS account.

    I was then unable to access the VM in enhanced mode using the normal vmconnect screens in Hyper-V. I just get dumped to the lockscreen and no keys respond.

    So I went to basic mode, used gpedit.msc to bypass the lock screen. It made no difference.

    I changed account to a local account and enhanced mode worked.

    I changed back to MS account, and enhanced mode failed.

    I then had one of those "light bulb" thoughts.

    I had set a PIN (bloody installer gives no option to bypass this) when installing Windows 10 in a VM.
    I turned off Windows Hello and then enhanced mode worked.

    I reenabled Windows Hello (that was a pain), and then enhanced mode failed.

    This is all repeatable

    Windows Hello on - enhanced mode fails

    Windows Hello off - enhanced mode fails

    This is a bit annoying, as you cannot simply use netplwiz in Hyper-V so you can bypass entering password.

    So I have to enter full password, or use local account. Using PIN was simply easier.


    I have seen others on web complain enhanced mode was no longer working, so this is not just me, but I have no idea if all users are affected.

    Use Smart card in Linux VMs

    Hi, I've recently enabled hyper-v on my Windows 10 pro system that's updated (June 2019). I've seen that enhanced session mode is available for both the Ubuntu 18.04 LTS and the Ubuntu 19.04 templates from the "quick create" menu. This has the ability to
    access local resources from the VM when connected using enhanced session mode. By default smartcards are selected for passthrough to the Linux VMs.

    My problem is that my smartcard isn't accessable by the VM. Previously I have used smartcard sharing on VMware workstation (I'm aware that full USB passthrough to a Linux VM isn't available in hyper-v), however my usual methods of using the SC for SSH authentication
    - for VMware VMs and on baremetal machines - doesn't detect the card/device at all. This is either the gnupg-agent method or the PKCS11 method for public key authentication.

    My SC can be used for SSH authentication on the win10 host using putty, but I really need to use it in a Linux environment.

    So far my searches haven't yielded any informention on this. The last time I tested hyper-v, enhanced session mode wasn't available for Linux VMs, even if they were created from an offical template in the quick create menu. Has anyone got this working? Or
    could you point me in the right direction for relavent documentation?

    No Internet in Hyper-V VM's

    Hi, I have Windows 10 Enterprise and just added Hyper-V. I had 3 VM's on VMware Player and deleted and uninstalled Player. I have 3 Vm's on Hyper-V. My problem is I get no Internet on my Vm's. I am new to Hyper-V and would like to know how to connect these
    to the internet. I have "Virtual switch (automatic)" selected. They show no connections available in the VM's. How do I connect to the internet? (I'm on wifi.) I'm attaching a screenshot. Thanks
