Windows 10: old hp laptop, windows 10, ACPI, 120 seconds of X-Files

hi all,

I've just updated a laptop 10y.o. with windows10 x64 from windows 7 native x64.

the only problem, the biggest matter, is 120 seconds of boot, on a SSD.


not only the boot is long eternally, also resume from hibernation and also a simpleresume from sleep/suspend.
then I tried to set off and set on "quick boot" without differences.

120 seconds during wich display is blank similar to black without power.


then I take a look at ACPI module, his version is that of win10, that is 10.0.18362.1. the date is 21-06-2006


obviusly no updates of firmware are available on hp support site.


as proof, I tried to install linux mint and linux lite, they boot in few seconds, 30 at max.

amd a4-3305m apu with radeon graphic, 6gb ram pc3-12800

HP Envy Laptop Battery not charging after Windows 10 installation

Thank you for posting on Microsoft Communities.

I suggest you to un-install and re-install battery drivers from Device manager and check. Follow the steps:

• Press Windows Key + X.
• Click on Device Manager.
• Expand Batteries and right click on Batteries ACPI and click on Un-install.
• Restart the computer and check.

If the issue persist, I suggest you to visit HP Envy website and check whether HP has released any firmware updates for Windows 10. If so, please go ahead and install them and check with the issue.

Thanks for the advise.

I have reinstalled the batteries ACPI in device manager about 5 times, but with no success.

Have also ran all updates, including bios updates from HP.

Finally did battery health check from Bios and using HP tool and both say the batter health is okay.

Is there anything else that can be done? I know another friend of mine who has had the same issue on his Sony vaio laptop after windows 10 upgrade.

Hope this can be resolved.

Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK
