  1. Windows 10 Apps won't run after windows reset. Cannot even sign in

I soft reset my laptop running prerelease20152.00 a week ago. After the reset the windows 10 apps from Calculator to Store won't open. They open and close repeatedly for few seconds and then stop. Refer to the Videohere Volume warning.

This is hindering me to Sign in as it shows same behaviour and wont let me update windows via an Insider update.

Since Then I have tried the following steps with no success:

    • resetting apps from setting>apps>advanced options for the app> reset.
    • entirely resetting the windows several times
    • cleared %temp%, TEMP folders
    • using commands like Get-AppxPackage % { Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$$_.InstallLocation\AppxManifest.xml" -verbose } or Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$$_.InstallLocation\AppXManifest.xml"} in adminstrator powershell and many more cmd commands that are meant to fix my issue
    • tried multiple troubleshooters
    • DISM and sfc /scannow results in no errors
    • changed Background Intelligence Transfer Services, Cryptographic Services, windows defender firewall to automatic.
    • added All Application Packages to permissionto full control to C:

This is also stopping the launch of Windows Defender Firewall so that I can turn it on which I am mockingly reminded to do after each start up.

    :)

    Windows 10 Tweaks

As you may already know, Windows 10 (as well as Windows 8) allow you to log in with a valid Microsoft account, instead of creating a local account that only works on your machine. However, you may prefer to keep a local account for privacy reasons. If you do, though, some Windows 10 features—like Cortana—may not work. Despite the default behavior, the Windows 10 Store is not one of them. You can still log in to your Microsoft account for just the Store without switching to a full Microsoft account. The process, however, is not terribly obvious. To do so, follow these steps:

    • Launch the Store from your Start menu.
    • Click the user icon next to the search box.
    • Click “Sign-in” from the menu that appears.
    • Choose “Microsoft account” and log in like normal.
    • When the “Make it yours” box appears do not enter your password. Instead, click “Sign in to just this app instead.”

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK

Metro 2033 fails to work on windows 10!

I don't recall you mentioning any trouble shooting steps attempted though. At the very least, doing a quick search and checking threads like this very well may have solved it for you. It's listed as compatible on MS' list of games that work with W10 for a reason, because many if not most are able to get it running on W10. At least some level of workaround may be required, but some got it running without doing anything.

is anyone able to get it running on windows 10 :: BioShock General Discussions
