  2. Can't upgrade from Windows 10 Home to Pro

    Hi Bill,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community. We apologize for the inconvenience caused and will assist you in the best possible ways.

I suggest you to download and create an installation media for Windows 10 Pro form the link provided below:

    Download Windows 10

After the installation media is created, suggest you to upgrade to Windows 10 Pro from the installation media. When the upgrade asks for product key, enter the product key purchased for Windows 10 Pro. If it does not accept, suggest you to skip the activation
step. After the Operating System is installed, suggest you to activate by phone by following the steps below:

    • Press “Windows key + R” and type “slui 4” and press Enter.
    • Select the Region from the list and click Next.
    • Call the Toll-Free number provided on top and can activate via phone.

Hope this helps. Keep us posted on the status for further assistance.

  3. Uppdate win10Home>Pro with OEM non upgrade key?

I work at a school and can't make the license purchase with credit card. It has to be through billing. Therefore I can't use the easy upgrade function for 99dollar.

I find reseller that offer OEM win10 pro productkey (ESD purchase) at good price, but some write that these productkeys can't be used to upgrade. They only work as new installation. Which I want to avoid. But on Microsoft community, I read a lot saying that
it should be working without problem. Just choose "change productkey" within win10home and it will upgrade.

What should I do? Is there really win10proOEM productkeys that can't be used to upgrade? Waht do I have to choose to be sure that it will work?

Unable to upgrade to Windows 10 Pro from Home

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

I appreciate your interest in Windows 10 Pro. I understand that you are facing issues in installing Windows 10 Pro on your computer. I’ll help you with this issue.

    However, please let us know:

    • How are you trying to upgrade to Windows 10 Pro?
    • Do you receive any error message/code?
    • May I know from where did you purchase Windows 10 Pro?
    • Are you using any third party security software?

If you are using any third party security software, I would suggest you to disable it and then try upgrading the computer to Windows 10 Pro.

Note: If you disable the security software or firewall, the system might be temporarily exposed to security threats and risks. Please make sure to turn it on after performing the steps.

You may also want to use a default key to upgrade to Windows 10 Pro. Refer the steps mentioned below:

    1. Press Windows Logo key + I, to open
      Settings.
    2. Click on Update & Security.
    3. Click on Activation.
    4. Now, click on Change product key.
    5. Enter the key: VK7JG-NPHTM-C97JM-9MPGT-3V66T.
    6. Click on Next or OK.
    7. Reboot when prompted.

Once the upgrade is complete, please make sure that you are signed in with the same Microsoft account through which you have made the purchase.

If the issue persists, I would suggest you to run SetupDiag tool on your computer. SetupDiag is a standalone diagnostic tool that can be used to obtain details about why a Windows 10 upgrade was unsuccessful. To download the tool, go to the webpage:

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/deployment/upgrade/setupdiag

Once the log files are generated, please upload the logs to OneDrive and share the OneDrive link.

Let us know how it goes.

    Regards,
