Windows 10: UAC won't let me install a programme from a disk

Discus and support UAC won't let me install a programme from a disk in Windows 10 Installation and Upgrade to solve the problem; im trying to install The Sims 2 apartment life and Free Time from their disks, both of which i had previously intalled on this computer but uninstalled...     UAC won't let me install a programme from a disk


    im trying to install The Sims 2 apartment life and Free Time from their disks, both of which i had previously intalled on this computer but uninstalled a while ago from the same disks.


    when i click to run the auto-run that installs the game, UAC pops up saying i prevented it to protect my computer with no option for me to allow it.


    Anyone have any help?

    Steam does not install from disk?!?!

    no you're doing steps 1 and 2 wrong. steam creates the directory, you stop steam and then you install the game from the disk to that directory.

    also steam must be off, not in offline mode but off, aka no steam services in the task manager when you install the game.

    Cannot install known safe programme...

    Baffling. We both have exactly the same settings, using the same file, unblocked the file, and we get different results. How is your UAC set?
