Folders changed to read only and revert if I change it back.

I was offline for a couple days after moving. After a restart I noticed I couldn't write to a folder in appdata that a program usually does.

I also became unable to play State of Decay 2 which requires a microsoft/xbox account. I had been playing it earlier that day while offline. Now that Im online again I had no trouble relogging into the xbox account in game and it works fine again.

During a shut down that was taking a really long time I did shut off with the power button, it was just a black screen but I did wonder if it could be updating but since I'd been and was offline i thought "it couldn't be"

Feeling like an idiot for doing that, since now i've got to wonder if that's what did it.. I can't remember exactly when that happened though as I was very tired from moving for a couple days.

As I mentioned in the title the folders in question immediately revert to read-only if i change it in properties. Tried moving the folder out of appdata and on to another drive but still the same.

My windows profile says it's administrator but looking at the permissions on my drives looks a little confusing to me.

I have Authenticated Users, SYSTEM, Administators ........ and Users. I set full control to all of them but when if i disable the read only on a sub folder it still reverts to read only immediately.

Edge still seems to remember my passwords and I can still access my email app.

I do have a couple of windows profiles i think but I only use this one.

I did start getting some allow program through windows firewall prompts that I had previously allowed.

Now back online I did have like 5 updates pending, I've been able to install all of them except one which is giving me this error.

    2020-06 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1909 for x64-based Systems KB4560960 - Error 0x800f0986

I'll try to think of more information I can add.

Thank you so VERY much for any assistance you can provide I really want to get this figured out <3

    :)

    Folder Reverting to Read Only

I have two drives. My C drive and my D drive. I use my D drive as an external hard drive, but it's internal. My C drive is an SSD and my D drive is an HDD. My SSD is too small, so everything large goes on the HDD. Every folder in my HDD is read-only. I right click the folder and go into properties and take it off read-only and apply the changes, when I go back into properties the folder in question is back on read-only. I have googled this problem multiple times. So all of the basic things that I can try, have been tried. I'll list them below.

    Both CMD with Admin Privileges
    attrib -r +s drive:\<path>\<foldername>

    attrib -r -s drive:\<path>\<foldername>

Example Images: Not my system, the images are examples but I did the aforementioned and still no result.

    CMD with Full Admin Privileges

    attrib -r "full path of folder\*" /s /d

    Powershell: With full Admin Privileges

    Get-ChildItem -Path "full path of file with extension" -Recurse -File | % { $_.IsReadOnly=$False }

If there is anything else that I can try to get these folders off Read-Only. Please give me a detailed set of instructions that even a layman like myself can understand. Thanks in advance!

  3. Music files are Read Only in Windows 10 and I cannot change it

I have been trying to synch my IPhone music files. I keep getting and error 54. I tried to change my Music folder and unchecked the Read Only box. After it runs through the changes in the folders and subfolders it will revert back the checked Read Only.
I have tried all of the suggestions to change to Administrator, etc. listed in the posted threads. Nothing works.

What can I do? This is NOT what I signed up for when I upgraded to Windows 10. Nothing I do works. Please help.

    Thank you.
