Need help with clean install / System Reserved Issue wu5eb7xHFDUzI-EcQfkjgQxaV5DxWIslnYXkEpnE3nc.jpg

Long story short, I destroyed my OS trying to mod some games and made some stupid mistakes. I have now performed a clean install. I have two drives, Disk 0 which contains the destroyed OS and Disk 1 which now has the clean OS. It works fine. I would like to completely wipe Disk 0 of the trashed OS however it still has the system reserved partition so I can't. Disk 1, which again has the good OS and boot, has no system reserved partition and I would like it to. I obviously cant copy the files from the system reserved on Disk 0 because they are destroyed. How can I A) wipe disk 0 and B) create a new system reserved partition for Disk1?

I will attach a photo of my drives so it is clear what I mean.

  2. System Reserved Memory issue

    Hi Rowan,

The reduction in available system memory depends on the configuration of the following:

    • The devices that are installed in the computer and the memory that is reserved by those devices
    • The ability of the motherboard to handle memory
    • The system BIOS version and settings
    • The version of Windows 10 that is installed
    • Other system settings

As an initial troubleshooting step, I suggest that you check your system for memory problems.

    Here's how:

    • Type mdsched.exe in the search bar and select the best match.
    • When prompted by the User Account Control, enter an admin user name and password, and click
      Yes.
    • Follow the on-screen instructions to run it.

Let us know how it goes.

  3. Clean Install Workaround for Vista

You may remember this news story on techPowerUp! a couple of days ago relating to the lack of clean installs when using the Upgrade Editions of Vista, which required an old OS to be installed. However, Paul Thurrott has managed to find a workaround for this issue, which ironically lets users do a clean install Vista without any previous version of Windows, albeit a little tedious. Here are the steps:
    • Boot from the Windows Vista Upgrade DVD as normal
    • When prompted for a product code, leave this blank
    • Select the version of Vista you have purchased and let Vista install
    • When you boot to your desktop for the first time, run the Vista setup from Windows
    • This time enter your product key
    • When asked whether you want to do an Upgrade of Custom install, select custom and choose a clean install
    • Windows will now install for a second time and you should be able to activate it
Remember, these steps are only advised for use in order to achieve a clean install of Vista, it is only legal to use the upgrade editions if you have previously purchased the appropriate version of Windows.

  4. Need help with clean install / System Reserved Issue

Need help with windows 10 System Reserved Partition

I suggest you create a backup of your system reserved partition, then remove the items.

Once you have done this, you need to run the installation for WIndows 10, and do not reboot!
This should allow you to run the installation without the above mentioned error.

If it fails, you will need to move the items back into the reserved partition, and most likely repair your windows install.
