Windows 10: Unable to set up ATT.net email on Laptop using Windows 10. Microsoft office 2016

I was having problems with my HP Laptop so I reset it to factory settings.


I have been unable to use the outlook / mail app to setup my ATT email account.

It works on all other tablets, phone and desktop computers with my current password.

I called ATT and since I can sign into ATT.net they will not help me saying it's a Microsoft application issue.


When ever I go to double check my settings I find the saved password to be twice as long as the one I entered when I set it up.


I have tried multiple on line suggestions but i'm getting no where.


Any suggestions, does Microsoft offer free support?


When I try to log into yahoo Which is what ATT uses on my laptop only it denies my password even thought it works on my other devices

Just will not install an ATT.NET account.

I cannot install Windows Live Mail 11

I cannot install Framework 3.5 (required for WL Mail client.

Windows blocks everything that I had with Windows 7.

Windows 8 is lousy!

So what steps are you taking to set it up? Why would you use the Yahoo mail settings for an att.net account?



I would go to Settings/email+accounts and click on "add an account". From there use "other account" and enter your email address and password. It should automatically set it up for you.



You can try the advanced setup if that does not work.

 

How to add a Microsoft email account to Outlook 2016

I saw an old post describing the steps to add an msn.com email account to Microsoft Outlook. It had to be done manually selecting the first option and using blu404.m.hotmail as the server. If I try to do the same, however, I get an error message saying that the server can't be reached.

How can I add a Microsoft email account (hotmail/outlook) to desktop Outlook? I can use this email account in Outlook Live, (it shows Outlook Mail in the upper left corner of my emails), but I can't add it to Outlook 2016 from Office Professional. I was able to add an @att.net email account, but I don't know what to do for a Microsoft account.

If I try to add it without any manual steps I get an error message saying (more or less): "an encrypted email did not work, try and unencrypted email", but that does not work either. Clearly, some manual configuration is needed: please guide me along the required steps. In case it matters, my password is 8 characters long.
