  1. When I re-open the registry key it has set itself back to ‘1’

    I purchased a Lenovo Yoga 720-13KB in 2017, with Windows 10

It just started automatically going into tablet mode and not allowing me to change it back to desktop/keyboard mode, even though I have the setup parameter set to always open in desktop mode. I have also changed the registry keys, to open in desktop mode and have set the tablet mode key to ‘0’. All to no avail. When I re-open the registry key it has set itself back to ‘1’.

Finally, I found that by elevating the rear of the keyboard so it sits at a 45-degree angle, the computer will go back into desktop mode. Occasionally a slide-in box will ask if I want to switch to tablet-mode. But I ignore it, and after a second, the message slides out of sigh

I would like to fix the source of this problem as I use the machine 3 -5 hours daily, and the “work-around” is inconvenient and hard on my wrists.

Does the source of the problem sound like: Hardware? Software? A Virus?

Is it something I can address, or will it require professional repair?

Any advice is much appreciated. Thank you.

    :)

    Modded Registry. Want Old Back....

    did you try this

    To restore the registry
    Open Registry Editor.
Click Options, and then click Print to print these instructions. (If you are using the Help and Support Center, click Print above the topic area.) They will not be available after you shut down your computer in step 2.
Click Start, and then click Shut Down.
In the list, click Restart, and then click OK.
When you see the message Please select the operating system to start, press F8.
Use the arrow keys to highlight Last Known Good Configuration, and then press ENTER.
NUM LOCK must be off before the arrow keys on the numeric keypad will function.

Use the arrow keys to highlight an operating system, and then press ENTER.
    Caution

Incorrectly editing the registry may severely damage your system. Before making changes to the registry, you should back up any valued data on your computer.
    Notes

To open Registry Editor, click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
Choosing Last Known Good Configuration provides a way to recover from problems such as a newly added driver that may be incorrect for your hardware. It does not solve problems caused by corrupted or missing drivers or files.
When you choose Last Known Good Configuration, Windows restores information in registry key HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet only. Any changes you have made in other registry keys remain.

Thinking about Going back to Win8.1

If want to disable IE, still can. However, can't uninstall it like were able to in XP/98/whatever.
Here's how, although I find it useful in case Chrome or Firefox stops working and have to re-download it. *Wink
    1. Search for turn windows features on or off and click it in the search results.
    • When I re-open the registry key it has set itself back to ‘1’ [IMG]
