After frequent BSODs stopped I lost something

Had a series of BSOD, maybe 2 monitors, maybe the new Intel driver - anyway after running a series of in-line-reinstall, DISM-RestoreHealth, etc. the system is back to stable, but - the right click does not result in much. I.e. right-click on Chrome to open New Window or Incognito - results in nothing visible. I can do it 10 times and nothing. But looking into running processes - I would have ten CHromes running. Trying to run CMD elevated by right click and select the Run as Administrator - nothing happens at all. No error messages either. After all the attempts to resolve BSOD - of course, no restore points to go back to.
And on top of it the ancient 1903 mess created the <user.000> which I hate.
Is there hope for me? Rebuilding the WIndows from scratch and reinstalling everything is w weeks-long process, and some of the older stuff might not be reinstallable for lack of info.
Is there some magic that can be done to clean up?

    :)

  3. Frequent BSOD

    Hello,

As per the title, I am experiencing a range of BSOD errors daily. Perhaps once every 2-3 hours or so, and it seems to crash more often the more program I’m running simultaneously. Though this could be mere coincidence.
I'll list some of the recent error messages here:

    • Win32kfull.sys failed
    • System service exception
    • Werfault.exe failed
    • Page fault in non paged area
    • System thread exception not handled
    • Critical process died
    • Nvlddmkm.sys failed
    • Dxgmms2.sys failed
    • Unexpected store exception
    • Unexpected kernel mode trap
And I’m sure there are others I haven’t taken the time to log. Clearly something is seriously wrong.

    Troubleshooting steps taken include:

    • Updating gpu driver
    • Uninstalling 3rd party antivirus software

    As per this guide:

    BSOD Finding and fixing them

I'm including the following to help diagnose the problem:

    • recent .dmp files (only two appear in the minidump folder for some reason)
    • MSinfo output
    • System specs (should be in MSinfo. Ask if you require further details)

You can download these from my onedrive here:

Microsoft OneDrive - Access files anywhere. Create docs with free Office Online.

I’m not sure what troubleshooting steps to take from here, so any advice would be appreciated.

    Regards,

    Nathan

    Edit:

I've also taken the following troubleshooting steps:

    - Updated Windows

    - Updated device drivers, via SDI

After frequent BSODs stopped I lost something

Lost default photo viewer after profile rebuild

Thanks Brink. I've tried those steps before i started searching Google. After the profile rebuild i don't have the Photo app listed to choose to make it default in either the system settings for default apps or the Open With option.

I can't even find it doing a search. Seems to have been removed somehow with the profile rebuild, which doesn't make sense.

Might be helpful to list what i've done After frequent BSODs stopped I lost something :) I've done the open with check, the choose default program in the system menu, tried that in device manager default programs also. I've checked the programs and features Turn windows features on/off and it's not listed there (never thought it was but that was a suggestion), searched the MS Store, it's not listed there either.

I don't like playing in the registry unless i have defined steps and haven't found anything for this yet, just the Win7 version like in my OP.
