Windows 10: Keyboard B N Space Arrows Issues

I bought my Dell Inspiron 15 in December, so I've only had it a little over 6 months. For the last week or so, I have been having issues with the B N , . [space] and arrow keys. Note that the M key is fine, as are all other keys in that area.


Things I have tried:

• I have uninstalled and reinstalled keyboard drivers. This used to work sometimes but no longer does.
• The on-screen keyboard works fine.
• Plugging in another physical keyboard works fine.

Other things to note:

• In Device Manager, when no other keyboards are connected to my laptop there are 3 keyboards listed, two called "HID Keyboard Device" and one called "Standard PS/2 Keyboard". I don't know if having multiple here is a problem, I have uninstalled all of them, and only the last one seems to matter.
• For the first few days of this issue, restarting would unreliably work. Now it doesn't seem to at all.
• I have treated this laptop much better than all previous laptops such as not eating at it and keeping it mainly on desks rather than my lap.

What else can I do? Or is it "take to a repair shop" time?

Keys b, n and space bar not working

I have a dell inspiron 13-5378 (windows 10).

The keys b, n and space bar have stopped responding.

Currently i am using the touch keyboard.

I will certainly help you with this.

This issue may occur when drivers are not updated.

I would suggest you to go through the below methods:

Method 1:

• Press Windows key on the keyboard
• Click on Settings window
• Go to Network icon
• Choose Network & Internet category.
• The second setting on the left column is Airplane mode.
• Turn it On and check if it helps.

Method 2: Update the drivers.

Step 1: Check for the latest driver update through Windows Updates.

• At the Start screen, type Windows Update.
• Click or tap Settings on the right side of the screen, and then select
  Install optional updates from the left results.
• When the Windows Update control panel opens, click on “Check for Updates” on the top left corner to receive a fresh list of updates.

Step 2: Follow the steps below to update the keyboard drivers.

• Press Windows + X key on the keyboard.
• Go to device manager.
• Right-click your Keyboard devices.
• Click Update Driver Software and then follow the steps in the wizard that appears.

Restart the computer and check.

Method 3: Check in
compatibility mode.

Download the Keyboard
drivers from your computer manufacture website for Windows 10, if not available.

Follow these steps to install the drivers in compatibility mode and check if that helps.

a. Download the driver from the manufacturer’s website.

b. Right-click on the driver setup file and click on
‘properties’.

c. Click on the ‘compatibility’ tab and check the box
‘Run this program in compatibility mode for’ and select Windows 8 operating system from the drop down menu and proceed with the installation.

d. Once this is done, restart the computer and check if the issue persists.

On-screen keyboard arrow keys gone

To isolate the issue, we would like to know if it's happening for a specific application only or for all applications. Did you make any changes on the computer prior to encountering the issue?

It is possible that some system files are corrupted so as an initial troubleshooting step to resolve this issue, we suggest that you try running the System File Checker and see if the issue persists. To run it:

• Right-click the Start button, then select Command Prompt (Admin).
• Enter sfc /scannow (note the space between "sfc" and "/").
