  1. Faulting application name: sihost.exe and explorer.exe, windows black screen

    Hi guys, I'm desperate...

My computer all of the sudden started to go into the black screen with the cursor after doing the normal login user/password procedure. This didn't happen after a download of a new version of windows update, I just turned it on one day and it stayed black, I can navigate the hard drive via the command line.

I have a licensed copy of windows home 10 version 1903 OS Build 18362.900 I have an HP laptop

The windows event viewer indicates these two errors:

Faulting application name: sihost.exe, version: 10.0.18362.1, time stamp: 0xe9587576
Faulting application name: explorer.exe, version: 10.0.18362.815, time stamp: 0x51185cb4

    What I've tried:
    - dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth process finished but still have the error
    - Created another admin local account but has the same error
    - Tried the "Reset this pc option" choosing the "keep my files" but the process had an error and didn't finish
    - Tried the "System restore point" option but it also failed to restore
    - Did the "Uninstall latest quality update" it finished but didn't solve anything

    - Did the "Sartup repair" but that didn't fix anything

    - Boot into safe mode has the same problem

    - I turned off the "fast startup" option from the battery menu

    - sfc /scannow also finished but with no fix

Please help me forum, I am so tired of looking for other solutions and videos, I'm going crazy, please help me

    :)

  2. explorer.exe and sihost.exe crashes at startup (happens randomly)

Okay! I copy/pasted the information at the middle so let's try this again:

I'd logged to safe mode, but no sihost.exe or explorer.exe crash. Is there anything else I can do?

    Same issue here. Really annoying.

    sfcdetails.txt comes out empty

It always happen when I access my external drive through it's IP address.

Let's say my external drive is 192.168.1.5

And my share folder is Public

In explorer then have \\192.168.1.5\Public mapped

Now I have a thousand folder with each of them containing at least 1 folder and pictures in it

If I double click each folder on the left window with the auto-expand on quickly to see what each of them contains to see if everything is fine.... eventually explorer will crash and close all explorer's window including file in transfert

I've seem that since the beginning of Windows 10, so this isn't a new issue... and I've seen it happened on internal drive as well but not for a long time... I don't know if it's a timeout issue or something but right now it's my external drive as i'm making
sure everything is in order in there...

Faulting application name: explorer.exe, but only in high resolution

    Hi Anup,

    Thank you for the response!

I have a XFX PCI Express R9 280X 3GB Graphics Card. I tried to install graphics driver through windows update (right click on graphics adapter in device manager, and I tried to install latest graphics driver downloaded from AMD website) I'm currently using
    version 15.300.1025.1001 downloaded from AMD.

Playing around resolution I discovered other type of errors in the log:

Faulting application name: explorer.exe, version: 10.0.10586.0, time stamp: 0x5632d4c0

Faulting module name: comctl32.dll, version: 6.10.10586.0, time stamp: 0x5632d2ce

I also found a .WER file if it helps: Dropbox - Link not found

I installed now a previous version of graphics driver (AMD-Catalyst-15.7.1-Win10-64bit - Driver version: 15.200.1062.1004) but no luck, i get the same behavior.

However it still works on lower resolution which makes it a mystery for me.
