Windows 10: Back with same problem with Windows 10; Store won't launch and Photos app won't open pics

Hi everyone,

I had posted last month about a problem I have had and I'm back because the issue hasn't resolved and I'm desperate.


I have Windows 10 PRO. It is updated.


PROBLEM:

1. When I try to open Microsoft Store, I get the spinning dots against the blue background. I have gone through the recommended fixes and none of them work.


2. Since I get to Microsoft Store, I can't download the OneNote app, which wasn't launching. I deleted it to see if I need to re-install, but since I can't open the Store, I can't get the app.


3. Photos are inaccessible through the Windows Photos app. When I click on a thumbnail, I get an error message. Same with screenshots. I've done all the troubleshooting options suggested online and none of those things works.

Windows 10 Photos app and Store won't launch

Does anyone have suggestions to fix the issues below? I have searched quite a bit on the Microsoft hosted help sites, and feel like I have exhausted the posted solutions.

Issues:

- Windows Store won't open (nothing happens except that the cursor turns to hourglass for a few seconds)

- Photos app won't open

- Weather app won't open

- Really most modern, native apps won't open and just do nothing. One exception is Mail, which still launches.

What I've tried (based on reading answers on Microsoft-hosted help sites)

- Run the windows app troubleshooter (no issues found)

- Re-registered windows applications with powershell

- Switched my account type from Microsoft to local account and back

- Ran WSRESET.exe

- Attempted to delete some local application caches

- Logged in as Administrator and tried to launch the apps

None of these worked.

Any suggestions? I guess if nothing else is offered, I'm down to re-installing/refreshing, which I'm really hoping to avoid.

Windows 10 Apps won't Launch after Anniversary Update

I am having the same problem as reported here. I have tried the steps outlined above, saw no red in the powershell script, and I still am unable to launch any UWP app. Shell's taskbar loads (win32), but the start menu won't open (uwp). Edge won't open
(uwp). Notepad will open (win32). Settings, Store, Photos, Movies all won't open (uwp).

 

Store and Calculator apps won't open?

Hi, I'm having the same problem... Calculator won't launch, and App Store won't work: nothing happens when I try to download the calculator. I tried the troubleshooting routine above (Troublesshooting/Window App Store). I get to a step "Resolving problems.
Reset and open Windows Store". I get the error ms-windows-storePurgeCaches - The application cannot be started. Try reinstalling the application to fix the problem".

What should I try next?

I am on Windows 10 version 1607.
