  1. Mail and Calendar App disappears after several seconds - uninstall/repair yields no results

I have a fresh install of Win 10. Fresh install, however all of my programs and other settings are set and I consider it non-negotiable to reset Windows at this point because I cannot waste another week of productivity to redo everything.

I'm trying to use the mail and calendar app and every time I open it to add an account, the app disappears after several seconds the app will just disappear.

I've tried opening from the app. I've tried adding an account through Settings\Email & accounts and however I try to add an email account, the dialog box will remain open and usable for about 10 seconds and then will disappear.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app. I've tried the "repair" option. Neither yield any results. I love this app and have installed it on hundreds of machines and have NEVER had an issue with it. But now it seems to be extra stubborn.

I also tried to uninstall the app and then try to add my gmail account through Settings while the app is uninstalled and I got an error message "Something Wend Wrong. We're sorry, but we weren't able to do that. Error code: 0x8000000b." seaching this says that the gmail servers cannot be reached. Trying this with a Yahoo account yielded a different error that said your firewall may be blocking the traffic. I have no antivirus or firewalls installed anywhere on my network so I disabled ALL the Windows securities and tried again and got the same results.

    Please help. Thanks

    :)

    Cannot open mail app settings

OK, my next suggestion was going to be uninstalling Mail and Calendar and reinstalling from the Windows Store. You can have a go at this by following these steps.

    1. Open the Start menu, type Windows PowerShell.
    2. Right click on the Windows PowerShell and select Run as administrator.
    3. Enter the below command to remove the Mail and calendar app.

    get-appxpackage *microsoft.windowscommunicationsapps* | remove-appxpackage

After performing the above steps, install the Mail and calendar app from the Windows Store.

Hope this helps, you will, of course, have to add you accounts back again.

Mail app will not open on 10041.

    Hello Adam,

This is the suggested solution below if you haven't already tried it. Mail and Calendar App disappears after several seconds - uninstall/repair yields no results :)

In this Windows 10 build 10041, the Mail, Calendar, and People apps may be broken due to a licensing issue with the Store Beta. To get these apps working again, you need to follow these steps:

    • Open powershell as administrator
    • Run the command Get-appxprovisionedpackage –online | where-object {$_.packagename –like “*windowscommunicationsapps*”} | remove-appxprovisionedpackage –online
    • Re-install Mail, People and Calendar from the Store (green tile)

  4. Mail and Calendar App disappears after several seconds - uninstall/repair yields no results

Mail App and Calendar App disappeared after upgrading to Windows 10

After the latest upgrade, Mail and Calendar disappeared. It shows in the apps list in settings but uninstall is greyed out. Using the reset deletes data. The app shows 0 storage. Microsoft store shows that the app is already installed so cannot re-install.
Interestingly if you open people and try to send an email the Mail and Calendar opens and shows the receipt of up to date emails. The only thing is that the favourite folders have to be re-assigned. When mail is running by accessing via people there is no
icon on the task bar although it stays a a window in the background. This is a very frustrating problem. I have tried all the suggested fixes except the last one about privacy as I did not understand the first stage. Privacy setting in settings do not give
you the option to link mail. Any suggestions would be welcome.
