Windows Snip on 4k Monitor vs Laptop Screen

I have a 1080p laptop, but 100% use it with an external 4k monitor.

When I attempt to print screen Snipping Tool the capture size defaults to the 1920 x 1080 from the laptop and ignores the 4k screen. This means much is left off the clip, and the resolution is terrible.

In practice this means that as print screen is pressed the 4k screen is shrunk to a 1080 version on the larger screen ie, appears in the top left quarter, but this shrinking makes it impossible to get a clip with enough accuracy and DPI to make it legible.

    Any suggestions?

    :)

4K monitor displaying from 1080p laptop

    Hi Sean,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

    We would need some information.

May I know the Make and the Model of the Laptop?

Graphic card of the Laptop should be compatible with the 4k Monitor to play 4k Video

Refer this link to check the Compatibility list:
    Dell Compatibility list.

    Hope it helps.

displaylink (dynadock 4k) not working with windows 10 laptop

I have a Toshiba dynadock 4k with an external monitor but I cannot see this monitor listed in my Windows 10 laptop display settings and cannot make my display appear on second monitor.

DisplayLink website suggests this may be a Windows 10 issue.

How do I get this working?

A 1/2" square spot of "snow" on monitor screen?

    Hi,

    • Are you saying that you have tried all the steps and the issue still persist?

    • What is the model number of your Dell Inspiron laptop?

    Could you send a screen shot of the issue? To take a screen shot using Snipping tool, follow the below steps;

    • To open Snipping Tool, type Snipping Tool in the search box on the taskbar, then select
      Snipping Tool.

    • To take a screenshot with Snipping Tool, select
      New,
then select the part of the screen that you want to capture. Choose from free-form, rectangular, window or full-screen snips by selecting the arrow on the
      New button.

I suggest you to refer to the answer provided bysker-hughes in the below link and check if the issue can be resolved.

    "snow" on monitor.....
