when i wake up my laptop windows 10, the initial screen forces me to choose to review the trivia representation B4 it presents the sign-n box. After signing-in, it takes me to Bing and the trivia presentation like mountains in bosnia herzegovina or a lake, a castle, whatever. how do i end this waste of my time? btw, i sometimes would chose to go this route; to be forced is a bother.

    :)

  2. Sign in screen on Windows 10 won't show up after wake up

    Hi Imad,

Your PC might be set to Never when requiring to sign-in after it wakes from sleep. To enable password login after waking Windows 10 from sleep, follow the steps below:

    • Click on Start (Windows icon).
    • Go to Settings (gear icon).
    • Select Accounts, go to SIgn-in options.
    • Make sure When PC wakes up from sleep is selected instead of
      Never under Require sign-in.

Try to put your PC to sleep then wake it up to check if it will now prompt you to log in.

Get back to us if there's anything else, we'll be glad to help!

[SOLVED] Windows 10 doesn't (or doesn't always) prompt me to sign-in on wake up even though "require a password" on wake up is set.

FYI. Acer Aspire Switch 10 (SW5-012) 2-in-1 laptop/tablet running Windows 10 Home (clean install).

ISSUE: Windows 10 doesn't (or doesn't always) prompt me to sign-in on wake up even though "require a password" on wake up is set.

SOLUTION: Change "Require sign-in" (see below) to Every Time.

    Test conditions.

    • Control Panel > Power Options > Require a password on wake
    Password protection on wakeup

Require a password (recommended) ç==== (selected)

    Don’t require a password

    • Settings > System > Power & Sleep > Screen

On battery, turn off after 4 min (default = 4 min).

When plugged in, turn off after 10 min (default = 10 min).
    • Settings > Accounts > Sign-in Options

      Require sign-in

If you’ve been away, when should Windows require you to sign-in again?

choices: Never, Every Time, 1 minute, 3 min, 5 min, 15 min (default = ?)

Test 1. Set “Require sign-in” (see above) to “15 min.”

    • If I wake it up too soon after putting it to sleep, I am not prompted to sign-in.
    • However, if I wait a while to wake it (say 20-25 min for good measure) after putting it to sleep, it prompts me to sign in.

On battery: 4+15 min = 19 min. (so about 20 min)

      When plugged in: 10+15=25 min.

Test 2. Set “Require sign-in” (see above) to “Every Time”

    • I wait for it to go to sleep (screen turns off), then after 2-3 seconds I wake it. As expected, it now prompts me to sign-in. FYI. The manual for this computer says to wait at least 2 second between sleep and wake.
CONCLUSION: Now that I understand what's happening, I've set "Require sign-in" back to 15 min. as it provides an acceptable balance between Never and Every Time.

Hope this helps someone else. Took me a long time to figure it out.

  4. when i wake up my laptop windows 10. the sign in screen forces me to click for the Bing...

Windows 10 Disable sign-in screen on wake-up without EVER having to type a password in the life of the computer

I am using local account. I'm not asking to not have a password, already done that. I want the sign in screen to go away. So when I wake up the computer, currently, I have to click sign in to get to the desktop. I want to go straight to the desktop, no
sign in button or screen or anything. Step 1 click button to wake up, Step 2 watch desktop come on the screen, thats it. Windows settings has that options, IF I choose a password. I would like instructions on how to change the registry to disable the log in
screen that comes up after you wake the computer from sleep or hibernation, or any easier way that leaves me without a password or having to choose a password, ever.
