Windows 10: When I press space, a search window pops up

Sometimes when I'm using my computer, suddenly the space bar will stop functioning normally. Instead of typing a space as it should, pressing the space bar causes the Windows 10 start menu search bar to pop up in the middle of the screen see screenshot.





If I type something in this search box, it starts displaying search results which are all apps installed on my computer. It behaves similarly to start menu search, but it's in the middle of the screen and the start menu isn't displayed. I have never seen this search box appear at any other time.


This is happening on a brand new Microsoft Surface Book 3. It happens both with the internal keyboard and with an external keyboard attached. It happens when connected to a Surface Dock or when not connected to anything.


I have been unable to figure out what triggers it. But the only way to fix it is to reboot. It will work fine for hours or up to days, but suddenly it will start displaying the search menu when I press space.

I have tried all of the generic troubleshooting methods. Please only respond if you have seen this issue before and you have a solution that you know will work for this specific issue.

? Block pop-ups in Edge on the phone

Pop-ups or pop-up ads are online advertisement that opens a new browser window when clicked or when the website was accessed. For now, the feature of blocking pop-ups or pop-up ads is available for browsers installed on PC's or desktops.

We request that you file this or up-vote an existing feature suggestion using the Windows Feedback Hub app. To submit a new feedback/suggestion, you can follow the steps provided below:

• Go to All Apps, search for the Feedback Hub app or press and hold Volume
  Down+Power button for about 2-3 secs to launch the Feedback Hub app.
  
• Open the menu icon at the top left side.

when press "a", "this pc" pops up. When press "@", scratchpad pops up?

I have windows 10. My son was using it and now when I press the "a" button, "This PC" screen pops up. Also when I press "@" button, "Scratchpad" screen pops up. There may be oters that I have not found out about yet but this is very aggravating. How do
I stop this?

 

Search and taskbar keeps popping up

Are you referring to taskbar preview window pop-ups?



If yes, there is no option to disable the taskbar window pop-ups when you hover the mouse, this is by design.

However you may Auto-hide taskbar by following the below steps and check if it helps.

• 
  Right click on the taskbar and select properties.
  
• 
  In the Taskbar tab, Place a tick mark for Auto-hide the taskbar.

• Go to Start, enter the phrase Windows Feedback, and then select Windows Feedback.
• See if someone else has given similar feedback by entering the topic, such as Microsoft Music.
