  1. File Explorer Changed Folder Display and Listings.

In File Explorer under Downloads, the folders/files are listed as A-H, I-P, Q-Z, and Unspecified. How this happened, I don't know. What I do know is that I don't like it. How to get it back to Default? docs and Music and Pics are not like this. I'm at a loss. I've clicked on everything trying to get it to revert to default.

Meanwhile, I suggest you to follow the steps below and check if this helps.

I see that you are missing some folders and files are missing.

    Search Bar and then Enter.

    2. Click on the View Tab and then check the
Show hidden files folders and drives.

    3. Click on Apply and then
    Ok.

    4. Now check for the missing files and folders.

I would suggest you to check the size of the complete files on laptop and then on Desktop.

Change the driver letter on the desktop and check if that is the problem.

Please follow the below steps for the same,

    1. Click on Windows key + R for
    Run.

    Note:

    • Some programs make references to specific drive letters. If you change a drive letter, these programs might not work correctly.

  4. File Explorer Changed Folder Display and Listings.

Files remain in original folder after moving them to new folder in file explorer

    Hi,

The issue that you’ve encountered regarding the File Explorer may be caused by some configuration or files mismatched. To sort out your concern, we suggest that you reset the folder settings from the
Folder Options. This will reboot the folder’s preferences to its default state and remove any possible software conflict. To do this, you may follow these steps:

    • Click Start, type File Explorer, and press
      Enter
      .
    • On the File Explorer window, click the View tab > Options > Change folder and search options > View.
    • Under the Folder views section, click Reset Folders, and then select
      Yes to confirm.
    • Once you’re done, click OK, and then check if the issue persists.

Note: This process will remove the list of files that you recently opened.

Let us know if the suggestion works for you.
