  1. Minimum processor state / Noise

Hey! My pc was making a strange scratching noise, low and not all the time but still very noticeable. With the case open I tried to find the source but I couldnt, it was somewhere near the cpu area though. I re-installed the cpu-fan and everything but nothing changed. PC was new and working properly so I wasnt too worried, just annoyed. So I remembered that the last thing I've done before noticing the noise was messing with the windows power management, when I set the Minimum Processor State to 0%. I ended up finding out that the default is 5% so I set it back to 5% and all of a sudden I couldnt hear any noise anymore. It seems to be fixed but this is so weird that I have some questions:

1 - Is it possible that the Minimum Processor State was causing this? or it was just a crazy coincidence

2 - Can I do any harm to the hardware if i set the Minimum Processor State to 0%?

    Specs: -gigabyte x570 gaming x / -amd ryzen 3600x

  2. Minimum Processor State

Hi I kindly request to reply to my question.

My laptop runs with an AMD Processor and it's really slow when the (Minimum Processor State) is at
(20%) the default rate fixed my the manufacturer. But when I increase the rate above (50%) the device works perfectly.

I would like to know? whether there will be any problem if I continue to keep it above the rate of (50%).

  3. Minimum Processor State pros and cons

    Hi,

I have read nearly every post in relation to "Minimum Processor State."

However, most of them are dated and almost about computer issues, heating problems and worries about CPU wear.

I would like to know if there are any benefits in setting the Minimum Processor State to '0' or '100.'

    I have tired both.

I found that setting it to '0' allows the computer to really stand-still, especially when it's not doing anything at '0%' utilisation, the computer is cool as ice.

Conversely, when I set it to '100' it generates a little heat, which is not an issue, but the quality appears to be better. For example, watching videos and doing anything is faster, better, and sharper.

So, do we set it to '0', '100' or '50'?

[This question is for my HP Envy laptop, with i7-6700HQ, 16gb ram, Samsung 512g SSD, Windows 10 64x]

    Thanks.

  4. Minimum processor state / Noise

CPU Minimum Processor State useful on a desktop?

Are it and maximum processor state useful on a desktop, or is it just for laptops? Lower and Maximum are both set to 100% for me.
I read that if I lower the minimum, my cpu doesn't reach the max overclock level.
