  1. Hey guys, small question about factory reset and hard drives

My laptop is running really slow and I wanted to do a reset of my windows. I am someone who often tries out settings and forgets he changed them a day later so I also want to wipe the personalisation.

My thinking: i have to built in hard drives: a ssd for my OS and a normal hard drive for data. Is it possible to move all data from my ssd to the data drive, then get windows installer to ignore that data drive when i reset it? BIOS maybe?

I dont really care about apps, I'll just reinstall them anyway but I am not sure if maybe some apps saved their files to my "boot" drive so I dont want to just wipe it but make sure I have some backup of everything.

Would this be possible and how would I do it?

  2. Resetting Computer with Multiple Hard Drives?

    Hey all,

Just a quick question. My computer has three hard drives:

    • An 128GB SSD as C:\ for Windows 10 and essential applications (Visual Studio, Office, etc)
    • An 700GB SSD as D:\ for nonessential applications and games
    • A 2TB platter HDD as E:\ for general file storage.
My computer has been running a bit weird lately (especially since I had a RAM stick go bad about a month ago) and so I just want to reset the C drive. My intention is to use the following steps:

    • Settings > Update & Security > Recovery
    • Click Get Started under Reset this PC
    • Click Remove Everything
    • Erase quicky (since I'm not trading this PC in)
So, my question is, if I do this will it format all three drives or will it only affect my C drive? I just want to know if I should disconnect my E drive before restoring my PC.

    Thanks in advance!

How to factory reset Cisco 1700 Router

Hopefully I can help you here....its a very common thing to happen.

First, I take it you dont know the passwords for console access or telnet/ssh?

I will assume that these devices belong to you.

step 1. Plug a cisco console cable into a serial port on your pc
step 2. Plug other end into Cisco console port
step 3. Using hyperterm or putty or similar connect to the serial port
step 4. boot router, and make sure you clearly can see the output (this confirms you have good serial comms)
step 5. if this fails, adjust the comm port settings (9600, 8,1,n are the default)
step 6. now you have to do the only hard part...send the break command:

    Break command list: Break Commands

Go down the list and match your OS and SW and try the sequence suggested.

If this fails several times do what I do: Install putty (free) and then to send a break so you can get into rommom just hit "ctrl-a b".
