Windows 10: Windows button became a video on / off button (windows key shortcuts don't work either)

same as the title for some reason the windows button only does this now, (the key itself was broken by my 4y/o sibling and the rubber slid off after using it like that for a while). so idk that might have anything to do with it. i tied the killing ending task manager method but it still doesn't work properly.

Windows 10 START and SEARCH buttons don't work

For some reason both my main Windows button and Search buttons don't work. Other buttons on the Task Bar work as usual. Right click on either button gives a white-on-black context menu. Anyone have a suggestion, please?

Original Title: Windows 10 messed up

My laptop installed Windows 10, and now nothing works.

Im not sure if it was a problem while installing it, but now I can't access anything. The only icons available were the ones saved to my desktop. I cant open pdfs, half of my programs dont work and the other half i cant find. Windows button doesnt work,
Cortana does nothing and shortcuts such as windows button + x don't work either.

I tried accessing setting but it says that "the file doesn't have a program associated with it" and when i tried accessing recovery to re-install windows 8.1, it was empty.

Some help would be greatly appreciated it since windows 10 has currently ruined my laptop. Thank you.

 

Reset Button Not Working

If the screen goes black from one press i don't see how the button is broken, Are you sure you haven't changed how windows reacts to that button when you press it?
