Windows 10: I uninstalled onedrive but whenever I try moving anything to my desktop it pastes to...

what's weird is that my desktop still thinks its linked to onedrive, i tried reinstalling onedrive to try to change where/what it backs up but there wasn't a setting for that I could find

Windows 10 - OneDrive

Right click on the app and one of the properties has an option to not automatically start it. Uncheck, restart the computer, and it should stop. If you want to go another step further, find the OneDrive app in the start menu, right click on it and uninstall.

If that is still insufficient, there is a batch uninstaller for OneDrive available online. I can copy the code here if you need it.

 

Please, how do I move folders?

Hey, Michael, thank you for your reply here are my poor answers:

• Can you tell us when did the issue first begin? This issue first began when I hooked up with OneDrive.
  
• Were there any changes made on your computer prior to the issue (e.g., updates, software installation)? Not that I remember, unless OneDrive is considered a software installation.
  
• Are you getting any error messages? If yes, what is the exact error message? No error messages.
  
• When you say "I copy and paste but they won't paste", is it only happening in moving folders? Yes.
  
• To make sure that we have not missed on anything, what troubleshooting steps have you done so far? No trouble shooting steps, just trying to move folders where they were before.
  Michael, one of my main problems is I don't know how to work with OneDrive.

Thank you for the screenshot . . .

Open the Registry Editor again, it will be still on the same page

Double click Desktop, then set its value data to this and click OK

%USERPROFILE%\Desktop

Close the Registry Editor and restart (not shut down) your PC

That will have moved your Desktop out of the OneDrive folder

To complete the process, you will need to manually move your files from C:\Users\YourName\xOneDriive\Desktop into C:\Users\YourName\Desktop

Then to make sure OneDrive is totally gone form your PC, perform each of the following, if available . . .

Right click the OneDrive icon on the right hand side of your Taskbar and choose Settings

In settings, you will see 'Unlink this PC/My Account' select that option

OneDrive will no longer try to sync your files

Then depending on the version of OneDrive you have, you need to uninstall it . ..

Open the old Control Panel (click your Start Button, then just type control and hit Enter

Go to Programs and features, find OneDrive, select that and choose Uninstall

If you do not find OneDrive in Control Panel:

Open the Settings App (gear icon on your Start Menu)

In the list of Apps, find OneDrive, select that and choose Uninstall
