Windows 10: Cortana not listening when I say 'Hey Cortana'

Since the past few days Cortana on my device is not listening when I say 'Hey Cortana'. I have checked all the microphone settings and all the required permissions to Cortana are been given. I went on to check the Cortana settings and under the ' Talk to Cortana ' option I find this info "wake word invocation is currently unavailable and will be included in a future update."


I asked a friend of mine if he has been facing the same issue as I am but he said Cortana works fine on his Laptop and wakes up when said "Hey Cortana".

It is happening after installing the latest insider update on my windows 10 laptop. Cortana starts listening when I say "hey cortana" but cannot respond to what I say. Please help me.

 

Cortana not responding after "Hey Cortana"


Hey guys, I have windows 10 pro 64bit and a couple days ago when I said hey cortana it opened up and I could say stuff like what time is it. Now (without changing anything) it responds to "Hey Cortana" but after that it just says "Listening..." until I close it. Same thing if I trigger it with the mouse. Any suggestions on how to fix it?

 

Is there a way to have Cortana always listening to my commands, without "Hey Cortana"?

Is there a way to avoid saying "Hey, Cortana" before every command ?

Maybe a phrase that would mean "until I say stop, consider all my sentences as commands". Getting her attention every time can be annoying when you have several orders to give.

Of course, there would also be a command to stop the constant listening and get back to "Hey Cortana–ing".
