  1. BSOD hal.dll failure - mini dump attached

Over the weekend I got a Valve Index and an AORUS 2080ti Gaming Box which I am hooking up to a Lenovo X1 Extreme Gen2

I was able to "run" the Index on the laptop for very short amounts of time, but needed something more powerful than a GTX1660

I then hooked up the AORUS box, ran SteamVR and got a BSOD within about 10 seconds.

Each time I try to plug in the gaming box I now get BSOD from hal.dll

Ive been manually reintalling every driver I can think of, updated chipsets and BIOS, not sure what else to do

    Mini dump here:

    https://1drv.ms/t/s!Ak_hT2OjAV1SglijVotXZIE_t8UU?e=5NXKoQ

As you can tell Ive sunk a ton of money into what is essentially 2 paperweights.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    :)

  2. BSOD Windows 10 Issues - Mini-Dump Attached

Hello, I've been getting BSOD since I updated some drivers. I'm not sure which driver though or if its really a driver problem or not.

Here is a link to my mini-dump:

    https://www.mediafire.com/file/5a3goqf7bcvbean/Mini-Dump.zip/file

I put all four mini dumps in there, latest one is from this morning and the others are from last night.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Groggubus,

Welcome to the 10forums BSOD hal.dll failure - mini dump attached :)

Please remove / disable items from the startup in taskmanager
These programs could interfere with the boot process giving you trouble and increase the boot time.

Daemon tools, Alcohol 120% and Power Archiver Pro uses SCSI Pass Through Direct (SPTD), which is a well known cause for BSOD's.
Please remove Daemon Tools and run the SPTD pass through remover.

    1. Uninstall Daemon Tools
    2. Download the SPTD standalone installer and follow these steps:
      • Double click the executable to open it
      • Click on the button shown below

BSOD hal.dll failure - mini dump attached [IMG]

If the button is grayed out, like in the image, there is no more SPTD installation on your system, and you can close the window

Please follow this suggestion for the BSOD
    1. Please open BitDefender and go to the modules,
    2. Go to the firewall settings,
    3. Uncheck 'Block port scans in the network',
    4. Reboot your system <-- IMPORTANT

Understand the BSOD mini dump errors

On Sept 10th I experienced very bad failures (BSOD) which cycled up to 10 times and finally I gave up and did a system reset (clean install with a delete on all software but keeps all the files safe).

After that the same day, I tried again after the clean install and still there were 2 BSOD and I gave up entirely.

Since then I haven't touched my PC and decided to give it one more try. This time everything seems OK so far. I have analyzed the mini dump files to trace back what caused the problem.

These are my findings so far:

    these are the images

Here is another one from another dump file:

All the dump files upto this date is located here

UPDATE Sunday 09-17: BSOD again today ! The mini-dump analysis doesn't make any sense to the previous two! This latest dump file is located here

Since then, I have been going back and forth with every installed software drivers, to make sure they are up to date. I however tried to do a firmware upgrade on my SSD containing the OS. But that gave me an IDE/AHCI incompatibility error which I believe is for another post here.

    EDIT: ALL DUMP FILES HERE

However I would greatly appreciate it if any one could give me further insights into this analysis. I would like to find the root cause of the problem and resolve it.
