  1. Backing up or restoring windows 10 apps

I installed the game The Outer Worlds through Windows Store/Xbox app because it is on game pass otherwise I would have gone another route. So when I wanted to do a clean install of Windows, I tried changing ownership and granted full permissions for the folder where it was installed in order to back it up and avoid re-downloading it for 15 hours again. It would not work.

So I went to settings, apps, and moved it to my secondary drive before doing the re-install of Windows. Now I have it still, but with now way to get my fresh installation to recognize/re-register it. I don't think it's possible but maybe someone knows of a way. I tried seeing if I changed the location where apps are installed to the secondary drive whether it would recognize it and allow me to move it back but no dice, it asks to delete any already installed apps present before changing storage location for installed apps.

    :)

    Back up restore mystery..

i have used s system image restore several times over the past months.. its always worked without problems..

a couple of days ago i f-cked up my win 10 install using CCleaner to get rid of some "windows old" remnants.. just being tidy.. he he..

the machined refused to boot afterwards.. i thought no problem and fished out my repair disk.. when tried to run it i got the message below.. anyway a full win 10 custom install got the bloody thing going again..

today i ran a full system disk image back up.. EFI partition and the complete C drive.. pretty much like i always do..

just to make sure i tried restoring from it.. bugger me i got the same nonsense message.. its the same f-cking computer running a disk image restore done 10 minutes earlier.. he he

lucky i dont need it but at least i now know my back up method dosnt work any more.. as far as i can see everything looks as it should..

i am just running another disk image back just to make sure it aint a fluke..

"The system image restore has failed

Windows cannot restore a system image to a computer that has different firmware.

The system image was created on computer using EFI and this computer is using bios.."

    trog

ps.. i just created another system image back up on a freshly formatted usb drive.. i got the same message when tried to restore from it..

i now admit to being completely f-cking baffled.. he he..

    Back up restore mystery..

i only used CCleaner to get rid of the "windows old" folder.. widows itself wont let you delete it.. to be honest i think such things are a menace as i found out this time.. *Smile Backing up or restoring windows 10 apps :)

i did think CCleaner had messed up the EFI partition.. but it cant be as simple as that because the fresh windows install formatted and partitioned the drive and the message still comes up..

"The system image restore has failed

Windows cannot restore a system image to a computer that has different firmware.

The system image was created on a computer using EFI and this computer is using bios"

the same computer that created the system image is attempting to restore it.. why windows thinks otherwise i havnt a clue.. my computer is using EFI..
