Windows 10: best file app: is there anyone here that uses a good file app?

really need a good file app, all this trash and un-usability is driving me crazy


first question: do any of these show when they were last updated? or does ms store not show that?

here's the checklist of what is looked for

basic stuff

☐ middle click on folder file opens a new tab (like in chrome firefox etc)
☐ 1 click to open a file, not 2
☐ no sound when click files
☐ should have at least 2 panes/windows within the app
☐ filetype / extension of file must be shown
☐ has ctrl t or something easy to open new tab
☐ should replace explorer
☐ all this should be default


url/file bar

☐ in url/file bar, able to click on file/file path to get there
☐ double click url bar to highlight url


clean minimal visual interface UI/design

☐ active tabs should be white, not grey
☐ url bar (file bar) should be white, not grey
☐ no useless 'status bars'


opens how it was

☐ should open to where you last were
☐ width of columns must be remembered as default

☐ should be recently updated, and regularly updated and made better


looking for the closet app that meets the above checklist

please do not recommend anything that doesnt fulfill this checklist, all these shitty apps are driving me crazy
pls feel free to reply with a helpful good software/site in a week or a year, no rush

EMUI

Here's the steps to update EMUI 4.1.1 to 5.0 :

• Download the EMUI 5.0(desired version) .zip file, and unzip it.
• Place the .hwt file in the HWThemes folder from your phone.
• Using the Themes app, apply the new theme.
• Restart the phone, in order to see all the new changes.

And you’re done!

 

Best free file recovery

My mate was doing a back up and somehow managed to delete a lot of important files and photos, he has downloaded a program called pctools which does file recovery and it finds the files though to recover them he has to pay, he is a bit dubious about paying before the recovery incase it doesnt do as advertised, does anyone know of any good free file recovery apps that actually work.

The files shouldnt be too hard to recover as they were just deleted from the recycle bin and the drive hasnt been formatted, any help appreciated.

@Kreiji: It'll probably crash and burn in case of a hash collision..lol. I didn't cater for that.

@Ford: Those are some good suggestions. When I first wrote the program, I just needed to filter through the 500 files I had, and threw together the first thing that came to my mind, but I might decide to re-do it (taking some of your suggestions) and package it into a WPF app.
