Windows 10: PC freezes at 48% when trying to update

Discus and support PC freezes at 48% when trying to update in Windows 10 Installation and Upgrade to solve the problem; I've been trying to update my windows from 1809 to the latest version because 1809 was getting obsolete, everytime i try to update yhe entire PC...     PC freezes at 48% when trying to update


    I've been trying to update my windows from 1809 to the latest version because 1809 was getting obsolete, everytime i try to update yhe entire PC freezes at 48% and doesn't respond for hours until i manually force restart, then it automatically restores back.


    Please i need a fix for this, I've tried both the native update option and the update assistant multiple times but no luck, a clean install might be an easy way out but i don't want that because i don't have an external drive to backup or anything.


    My laptop is a Dell Latitude E6440

    Intel HD 4000

    AMD Radeon HD 8690m

    8gb ram

    Windows 1809 I've tried updating to 1909 and 2004 same results

    Windows 10 1909 Upgrade Freezes at 48%

    I am having problem with Windows 10 1909 Upgrade Freezes at 48%. Tried installation twice and failed. Any suggestion on how to complete the upgrade ? Please advise.

    Windows Creator Update Freezes Some Programs when typing

    Thanks for the reply. Since the Creator's Update is giving you some issues, we suggest reverting back to the previous update. Here are the steps:

    • Open Settings window.
    • Click Update and Security, then Recovery.
    • Select Get Started, under Go back section.

    Once done, it will restart your PC. After the restart, please do check if you'll still experience freeze moments on any programs you are working on.

    GPU-Z 0.7.8 / 0.7.9 / 0.8.0 Bios reading not possible GTX670-solved with gpu-z 0.8.1

    @Maban - does GPU-Z fail the same way for you the way it does for me? I.e. total system freeze/lockup, requiring a hard reset?

    @W1zzard - I will try the suggested steps later today, as I am not near that PC at the moment.
