  1. USB 3.0 protocol not active

As part of an attempt by MS to debug performance issues with my system, I performed a cold install of Win 10 Pro. Since then, all of the USB 3.0 ports on my computer run as USB 2.0. Evidence: Attaching a SONY XQD memory from my camera via the Sony reader and a USB 3.0 cable. Prior to cold install, I would see transfer speeds of appx 300 MB/s. After the cold install, transfer rates are appx 31 MB/s. Same on all USB 3.0 ports, front and rear of system. I can move the entire setup card, reader, and cable to any one of 4 other Win 10 computers in my house and the transfer speed is appx 300 MB/s. This tells me that it is NOT the card, the reader, or the cable.

    Details: Computer: HP Z440, 32GB, AMD FirePro W5100, Win 10 ver 2004, 19041.329

Approach: I have worked with MS support on this issue for several months and they are unable to help me. Not a clue why. But anyway, I have updated the drivers, the BIOS, and everything else I can think of. I can see that USB 3.0 is not "supported" by running USBView. Here's a typical output from one of the ports. It is the same for all 8 ports:

[Port3] : USB Mass Storage Device
    Is Port User Connectable: yes
    Is Port Debug Capable: no
    Companion Port Number: 0
    Companion Hub Symbolic Link Name:
    Protocols Supported:
    USB 1.1: yes
    USB 2.0: yes
    USB 3.0: no

This issue is extremely annoying. Transfer of photographic files now takes TEN TIMES as long as it did prior to the re-install of Win10.

    Need some help here.....

    :)

Amkette USB 3.0 hub identified as "Generic USB hub". How to get it working as 3.0?

Hello my name is Bradford and I'm an Independent Advisor for the Microsoft Community and I'll help you with getting your hub to work at USB 3.0 speeds.

Please be sure to download proper USB 3.0 drivers from the official site of your PC manufacturer. You can also find USB 3.0 drivers updates on the motherboard manufacturers’ websites if you built the computer yourself.

Save the driver file and follow the steps below to manually install the USB 3.0 driver:

    1. Use Windows shortcut keys "Windows Key + X" to launch the Jump List and then select "Device Manager".

    2. Right-click on the USB 3.0 device, for instance, "Intel USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller". And then select "Update Driver" Software.

    3. Choose "Browse my computer for driver software".

    4. Click the Browse button and load the USB 3.0 driver you’ve saved. Click OK and then click Next. Then Windows 10 will do its jobs on and install the driver.

    5. Restart the computer.

After following these steps your device isn't working faster please let me know and I can suggest a different solution
