Windows 10: after System Restore Microsoft Edge browser, apps and Windows apps plus Yahoo mail server...

Earlier today I performed a System Restoredue to several pc problems after which MSN, , Edge, Yahoo Windows and apps were not opening/responding. I immediately performed a System Restore Undo but problem still exists. IE browser is the only one I found any where that I could open to seek help. Please, anyone, send me advise ASAP. I'm at a total loss. I was able to open IE11 only and there I made this contact. Desktop icons are also not responding. All suggestions will be greatly appreciated! this is an HP desktop, windows 10, v. 1909 which was working until 2-3 days ago when resolution problems popped up unexpectedlyreason for the System Restore.

I went this route and added passwords for yahoo mail. I might try this method above to get gmail to buck up! *Tongue

YAHOO MAIL FIX
2FA needs to be enabled which it already was and just follow these steps below.

1. In yahoo mails account security, click on manage app passwords.




2. After selecting other app and entering the new app name in the text box




3. Now, in Windows 10 mail app, add this type of account.




4. In Windows 10 mail app, enter your details and the password generated by step 2.




Fully functional mail app again.



GMAIL FIX

Now similar steps to setting up Gmail. Here I'll only go through the Gmail steps as Windows Mail App setup is the exact same.

Yes, once 2-factor authentication is enabled you should then create the app specific password & enter it instead of the account password.

 

Can't Access Yahoo Mail using Edge Browser

Yahoo works fine in Edge for me, so it should be possible.

What does Winver show for your version and build number? There have been problems with some builds where MS's browsers (both Edge and IE) have not been recognised as compatible by some sites, Yahoo in particular. I had a similar problem in IE with the early builds of the Anniversary Update.

Subsequent updates fixed this problem, but until then there was a workaround. It was to un-tick 'Use Microsoft Compatibility List'. As I said the version of Edge in version 1607, OS build 14393.693 works with Yahoo Mail. If you have a different version/build you could try turning off 'Use Microsoft Compatibility List'. To do this you need to get to Edge's Developer settings. Type about:flags in its address box.
