Windows 10: Windows keeps forgetting monitor settings

I have two monitors connected to one system, I never use both at the same time because I have this set up so I can use my system at two different positions. One is 60Hz and the other 144Hz. Everytime I switch monitors my 144Hz sets to default 60Hz.


Is there any way to make Windows remember monitor settings per monitor?

Trouble with 2 monitors

I suggest you to change the settings to Extended Monitor and check if it helps.

Please follow below steps:

• Right Click any ware of the Desktop, and launch Personalization.
• Go to dual monitor settings under personalization, and change it Extended Monitor.

Forget second monitor completely

Hi Shovyd,

Settings created for external devices are also remembered by Windows. Basically, you just need to configure your display settings when the external monitors are connected. From my understanding, your primary display (your laptop) appears blank when the secondary
monitor is connected. If this is the case, try these steps:

1. Right-click on the Start menu button, and select Settings.
2. Select System.
3. On the Display tab, change the Multiple displays settings to
   Extend these displays.
   
   
   
   

These will then be remembered by Windows the next time you reconnect your external monitor/s.
