Windows 10: App volume and device preferences keeps resetting

Hello,


So I've been struggling with this issue for a while now. I found that win 10 has in their advanced sound settings the option to allocate different

audio devices to certain apps. For example I'm using digital driver cables which let me split the sound of my system and the sound of lets say my chrome browser into 2 audio streams. This is very nice when editing and recording.


However, I noticed that after every? reboot, windows resets these settings. It does this in a way that for chrome the output is still listed to my 'digital' driver, but that it isnt being picked up on. I have to select another option, then select the digital driver again for it to work.


For reference Im using digital audio cables along with voicemeeter banana program as the audio mixer. Does anyone have experience with this, or has the same issue?

Windows Keeps resetting app preferences

• What specific update was applied on your Windows 10?
• Did it also reset your PC settings configuration, or just the app preferences specifically for videos and picture files?
• Did you make any changes prior to this issue?
• What troubleshooting steps have you done so far?

In the meantime, you can also try the steps below and check if it will work:

1. Perform a clean boot.
It will start Windows by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. Also, it helps eliminate software conflicts that occur when you install a program, or an update, or when you run a program in Windows.

2. Once done, try to set again your preferences for videos and picture files.

How to add desktop shortcut to App volume device preferences?

Thanks. That script opens the Device Properties page for the Mic - see attached screenshot. Any idea how the script can be modified to open the App volume device preferences screen?

 

Volume mixer sliders keep fluctuating

1. What is the make and the model number of the computer?
   
2. Which build version of Windows 10 are you using?
   
3. What happens after turning off Audio Enhancements as mentioned in method 1?
   

I’d suggest you to reset App volume and device preferences to Microsoft recommended defaults and check.

1. Press Windows key + I together to open
   Settings.
   
2. Click on System > Sound >
   App volume and device preferences.
   
3. Click on Reset.
