    Bearfoos.A!ml false alarm?

I was writing a program in QB64 that downloads all files on a specific page on the internet. After troubleshooting it a bit, I ran it and it started for a split second then stopped. I got a notification that a threat was found. It pointed to the executable that I just compiled and ran. These are the details:
    Threat detected: Trojsn:Win32/Bearfoos.A!ml

    Alert level: Severe

    Date: 7/11/2020 1:40 PM

    Category: Trojan

Details: This program is dangerous and executes commands from an attacker.

    Affected items:

    file: C:\Users\efils\QB64\untitled.exe

It can't be that QB64 was infected or anything, because it works with my other programs.

    :)

  2. windows10 and Samsung Ml-1610 Printer

    Hi Keith,

Welcome to Microsoft Community and thank you for posting your query.

Let me assist you with your query.

The printer may not be compatible Windows 10, since the printer driver is not available for Windows 10. However, I suggest you to go to the below link, download the latest updated printer and install it in compatibility mode and check if that helps.

    http://www.samsung.com/ae/support/model/ML-1610/XSG

    • Right-click on the setup file of the driver and select Properties.

    • Select Compatibility tab.

    • Check Run this program in Compatibility mode.

    • Let the driver install and then check the functionality.
Hope this helps. If you need further assistance with Windows, let us know and will be glad to help.

Unable to print on Windows 10 using Samsung ML 1710 Laser printer

    The driver is at:

    http://www.samsung.com/hk_en/support/model/ML-1710

at left, click : "Driver installation", the driver is at the bottom

when the driver is installed, choose ML-1710 in the printer list.

It works for me Win10 64bits

    Bearfoos.A!ml false alarm?

False positive for desktop shortcut scanner.lnk

The 1.239.488.0 virus / spyware definition update that rolled out about 24 hours ago appears to be producing a false positive for any shortcut placed on the desktop called "Scanner.lnk". I can consistently replicate a false positive for Trojan:Win32/FakeSysdef
    with the following steps.

    • Create a shortcut to an exe file.
    • Place the shortcut on the desktop.
    • Name the shortcut "Scanner".
    • Run "Quick Scan".
I don't get the same result by directly scanning the file, nor by uploading the file to www.virustotal.com, so it would appear this is as a result of a heuristic rather than a file content analysis. I also don't get the same result with a shortcut that links
    to a website.

Can anyone else replicate? How can we go about getting the Windows Defender team to reconsider this heuristic? It's a bit heavy-handed.
