Windows 10: Attempting to Factory Reset my PC and now I have no OS

I got my friends old PC and I wanted to wipe all their data from the PC. I started off by trying to reset the PC and remove everything but I got a message that said “Could not find recovery environment.”

I went out and bought myself a new USB and created a recovery drive for reinstalling Windows. Everything seemed to be good to go so I put the few files I care about on a USB and rebooted the computer. I booted the PC to the USB and selected “Full clean the drive” I let it be for a few hours and when I came back the PC was off. When I turned the PC on I got an an error saying no OS was found. I double checked that my USB was disconnected and I only have my 1 SSD.

Where did I go wrong/what can I do to get my OS back?

How to factory reset Cisco 1700 Router

Hopefully I can help you here....its a very common thing to happen.


First, I take it you dont know the passwords for console access or telnet/ssh?

I will assume that these devices belong to you.

step 1. Plug a cisco console cable into a serial port on your pc
step 2. Plug other end into Cisco console port
step 3. Using hyperterm or putty or similar connect to the serial port
step 4. boot router, and make sure you clearly can see the output (this confirms you have good serial comms)
step 5. if this fails, adjust the comm port settings (9600, 8,1,n are the default)
step 6. now you have to do the only hard part...send the break command:

Break command list: Break Commands

Go down the list and match your OS and SW and try the sequence suggested.

If this fails several times do what I do: Install putty (free) and then to send a break so you can get into rommom just hit "ctrl-a b".

 

SURFACE PRO 3 RESET TO FACTORY DEFAULTS PROBLEM

The camera caused a system freeze every time it was activated so I thought why not restore.

• I attempted to reset my Surface Pro 3 to Factory defaults.
• The Surface Pro made it to 1% then crashed.
• Now it is in a reboot loop.

I have tried several times and now it gives an "Unable to reset your PC. A required drive partition is missing" error.

Do you have any suggestions on how to make it work again?

 

What Windows OS will my machine have when I restore it to factory settings?

Long story short I have to restore PC.

My PC was upgraded to Windows 10 free of charge but natively had Windows 8 installed.

I made a system repair disk as suggested by Microsoft and now I need to use it. However, I wonder, if I restore the PC to factory settings, the OS will probably be Windows 8. But I would like to keep Windows 10, how can I do this?

PS: I do not save restore points and shadow copies since they fill too much space on disk.
