  1. External Hard Drive, Autoplay, Notification

    1. In Windows 7, I do not plug/unplug my external drives. My external drives boot up automatically as the Windows 7 computer boots up.

But in Windows 10, the external drives do not boot up with the Windows 10 computer. I have to plug the external hard drives after the Windows 10 has completely booted up. The external drives work fine with Windows 10 and the Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media. They just won’t boot automatically simultaneous with the Windows 10 computer.

    Thoughts?

    2. So I thought, Settings > Devices > Autoplay, I put Removable drive in “Open folder to view files File Explorer was the solution. Apparently not.

    Thoughts?

    3. I saw in the Internet, autoplay is in Notifications. Did Microsoft remove it as I cannot locate it in Notification?

    Thank you in advance.

    :)

    External hard drive not recognised

Thanks for this. I've done what you suggested and been through all the steps mentioned in the article. The hard drive works fine on a Mac computer, and I've managed to copy the information on it. It must be a Surface issue so I'll try to get a chat line tomorrow.
