    Hello, I am new to computers as I recently got one with the intent of using it primarily for gaming. My friend gave me a trial version of windows 10 on a flash drive, and it gave me the option to choose between a multitude of Windows 10, including Home and Pro. I chose the Pro option. I later on bought a product key for Home, not realizing that I was on Pro. I have tried to change from Pro to Home by trying to use the Open Registry Editor with the Media Creation Tool. I eventually got a message saying,


    "This PC can't be upgraded to Windows 10.


    Your PC settings aren't supported yet on this version of Windows 10. Microsoft is working to support your settings soon. No action is needed. Windows Update will offer this version of Windows 10 automatically when these settings are supported."


    This is where I am at right now. I am at a loss of what to do. I don't know what settings are supported, and I dont know where to go to get the same trial version my friend originally got for me I erased it off of the flash drive unfortunately.


    What should/can I do?

    Which is good news actually, because Windows 8.1 is loads cheaper than previous versions (retail licensing at Windows 7 OEM prices). And it sort of puts a huge hole in the Windows subscription theory.

    Should I buy Windows 10 Home or Pro?

    I bought a win 10 pro oem key for £25, changed my motherboard and cpu, and reinstalled windows, and it activated automatically. So I would say why not buy pro?
