Windows 10: Missing characters when using a custom font

Alright, so I recently decided to change the default font on my computer using regedit, and for the most part everything seems to be working fine. The only real issues I've noticed are with certain unicode characters, most notably the semicolon in the taskbar's clock, and the skip/pause buttons in the little volume overlay (as shown below).

I'm pretty sure this is mostly due to missing unicode characters in the font I installed, so does anyone know the exact characters that windows uses for these icons? Once I know that I can easily just add the characters into the font and it should fix the problem. Thanks in advance!

For us to further isolate your concern, please provide us the following information:

• Which fonts are missing?

• Are you using those fonts for Office applications?

• Is the missing font part of Windows or separately purchased for Office?

How do I use or find Help for using Character Map?

I get messages from Microsoft that I can't reply to -- BELOW. My 'Reply' is to invalid address. This concerns my Character Map problem. font will not insert. Font appears in box but will not insert. My Character Map icon is on my desk-top. I click

Below are instruction I follow. However, my Character Map does not have 'paste' or 'edit' as shown below on #6 - only select and copy. I assume 'copy' is same as 'paste'. I am unable to 'copy/paste my C.M. to forward to you to see if mine is
same as yours.
How do I insert a special character into a document.

• 
  Open Character Map by clicking the Start button . In the search box, type
  Character Map, and then, in the list of results, click Character Map.

  Click the Font list, and then click the font you want to use. DONE
  
  
• 
  Click the special character you want to insert into the document. DONE
  
• 
  Click Select, and then click Copy. DONE
  
• 
  Open your document and click the location in the document where you want the special character to appear.
  DONE
  

Click the Edit menu, and then click Paste.
NO EDIT - PASTE

 

How do I use or find Help for using Character Map?

you missed the instruction that says paste it into your document.

you said you get nothing, do you not get to see the character map?

are there no fonts in the font list?

does nothing appear in the small box at the bottom when you click select?

is it that nothing appears in the document when you click paste?
