    Getting new hard drive replaced.


    Something bad happened to my laptop, and I took it to a local engineer, he told me that hard drive needs to be replaced with a new one.


    My laptop had windows 8 pre installed when I bought it, and I had upgraded it to windows 10 using the official way, thus it had activated windows 10 installed.


    My question is, if I install a new hard drive and then install windows 10 to it, will it get activated freely or I would have to buy a new license?


    I recently asked if clean installing windows requires us to buy a new license, some guy told me that microsoft servers have my device's id saved, so I won't need to buy a new license unless I do some big hardware changes. So, this time I am doing hardware changes, so I am worried if I need to buy.

    Replacing a laptop hard drive with a SSD

    I have a Dell Latitude E5420 laptop which has a Windows 10 Pro O/S. I would appreciate a step by step guide on the procedure to replace the hard drive with a Solid State drive; specifically dealing with the transfer of all the software from the old drive to the new. I have an external hard drive I use for backups and a free version of the Macrium Reflect program on the hard drive. The SSD is brand new. I have just 50 GB in total on the 231 GB hard drive. The SSD has 250 GB capacity.

    two years back i had purchased HP notebook with windows 8.1 and upgraded to windows 10.unfortunately my hard drive has smart check error and i contacted HP care,they suggested me to replace hard drive(warranty expired),then previously i have purchased along
