Windows 10: Fix your sound Try this if you've tried everything before.

I found a solution to my sound problem. I don't know if it's going to work for you. I'll tell you how I did it and it worked.

Basically you need to update all the drivers you see that are related to audio, you will find them in these sections:

• Software components
• Audio, video and game controllers
• audio input and output
• system devices

Update them by choosing from the driver lists on your computer, make sure to choose the most recent drivers you can find: Right Click on the drivers > Update Driver > Browse my computer for drivers -> Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer>Select the most recent driver from the list for every device > Click Next -> Close confirmation dialog.


Does this for all audio related drivers. And then you restart your computer.

I built the pc about 2 and a half years ago. Never had any problems like this until recently, my pc has been without sound for over 24 hours.

- how are they connected?

As you were prompted by the forum when you wrote the post (to save us asking), please post your build number.

History: (usually omitted):
- how long have you not had sound?
- what happened that might have led to this?
E.g. - update/upgrade/installation/ change of settings/ the cat walked over the keyboard..

Basic checks:
- run the Audio troubleshooter (rt click volume icon) and post a screenshot

- when you rt click the default device and click 'Test' does the green bar show movement- or nothing?

Is this the list of Microsoft sound fixes list you're referring to:

It is one of 13 steps including eight other separate tutorials I gave you. It is only a fraction of the fixes I gave which you dismissed as though I should know you've already tried them when you didn't even say what you've tried.

If this is the list you tried from MS, then you've not even begun on my list of fixes.

If you've tried the Sound controller driver from the PC and adapter maker's Support downloads web page, then try uninstalling the driver, restart to see if that stabilizes it. Since there might be Display audio involved, uninstall all the Audio category
drivers, restart the PC to reinstall.

If not try all older drivers in Device Manager > Sound controller > Browse > Let Me Pick.
