Windows 10: i can't find my files anywhere

help needed please, I've recently upgraded to windows 10 and now I can't find my files anywhere, all photos - videos-documents, everything just gone, does anyone have any advice on this? also when i write something in word,then save in documents, i switch on my computer the next day and the file that i saved is gone, any help will be appreciated

Finding .IMG or .ISO file in Windows 8.1 Pro download

Hey guys,

In preparation for my new PC I downloaded Windows 8.1 Pro from Dreamspark, and I wanted to burn it to a DVD, so I can install it on the new PC.
However, in the downloaded files I can't find a .IMG or .ISO file anywhere. I understood that the .IMG file is the one you need to burn to the DVD?

Any suggestions?

I got myself into twinUI mode, I do not know how to get out of it!


Currently, all the default apps from windows are: "twinui" on my windows (image1 below).

Everything was normal an hour ago, but then I was searching for "fixing the search in start", i stumbled upon the code in image 2, put it in cmd, restared the pc, then ended up with twinui as the default app!





additionally, every time i try to change the default apps from system>defaultapps> it just freezes and does not let me.
further more, windows photo viewer is not even part of the list, when right clicking to use the "open with" feature. as in image below





also, start button looks like:




I can't open calculator, calendar, email anything!

I can't find my files anywhere from overnight

I down loaded this piece of garbage Saturday! Yes my files WERE backed up, but it's been about 6 weeks since I backed up to an external hard drive...I'm an amateur photographer and had many pictures since then and now they're gone.

I updated to Windows 10 Saturday and couldn't find my files, after reading answers on here, I found them in windows.old file and got all of them back even everything I had added to my desktop so I put the files back in their respective folders. Catastrophe
averted... or so you would think! My iTunes library had lost all my ratings and some names of artist. No big deal, I was just happy they were there (approx. 5,000 songs). As I opened info on each song, the information was in there and updated automatically
as I opened info on each song.

I get up Sunday morning and my computer has updated again and several messages greet me before it lets me log in. "Hi" "blah blah Windows 10 is a great system, easier to use, blah blah blah" "ALL YOUR FILES ARE WHERE YOU LEFT THEM BEFORE YOUR WINDOWS 10 UPDATE".
Well it lied. Now my iTunes library is back with ratings, but most of my desktop icons are gone! So I look in my pictures...GONE! Documents... GONE! Videos...GONE! So I go to "windows.old" .... GONE! I can't find my files anywhere! So I download the app a
lot were talking about shadow recovery something (I'm at work and don't remember the exact site, it was 1:00 in the morning when I was doing this) there is all my files listed except I can't open them, it says missing data, corrupted or my computer can't open.

If someone can help a 53 year old man who isn't especially tech savvy get my files back I would appreciate it greatly, oh and those files I did have backed up.... I deleted before I realized the new ones I backed up were corrupted so everything's gone now.
I really don't expect to get them back and there wasn't anything in them I can't live without, but I spent a lot of time compiling my files and really enjoyed photos I had accumulated including some of my granddaughter that can't be replaced. But I will tell
you this .... I will NEVER purchase a windows system again, I'll buy a Mac next time and though my area of influence is small, I will bad mouth Windows and Microsoft to every one I have the opportunity to. This has been a terrible experience for me and don't
think Microsoft gives a d*$% about their customers.
