All of the files on my remote storage drive somehow had an .XML extension added to the file...

For example: XXX.pdf became XXX.pdf.xml, or XXX.docx became XXX.docx.XML. Tried to solve by renaming one file and removing the .XML extension but did not work - files will still not open. HELP!

.processed file extension added to many files

I searched online, but have found absolutely nothing that helps!

Just noticed that a lot of my files suddenly have a double extension. Somehow .processed was added to the original extension. All the files affected seem to be in the "Downloads" folder, as far as I can tell.

If I delete the .processed, the file can be opened again, but it's a lot of files (all kinds) and I have no idea why this happened.
Is there a way to take off the .processed with a batch file somehow? (Am not experienced in writing this myself)

Does anyone know how this happened and how I can prevent it from happening again?

  3. I can not open the xml files with the xml editor

When I double click on a .xml file an error message is appearing that there is no appropriate program to open this kind of files. I tried to match the xml editor program with the files having a .xml extension and this didn't work too.

Please tell me a way to pair the xml file editor with the .xml extension files.

    Stored files in Hard Drive

You can use Windows search. Just search for *.* on a desired drive. When list is done just arrange them by size LOL.

You can do it via command line as well and make an output text file showing files and their sizes (but without arrangement)
