  1. Sshd service has disappeared

I had a perfect ssh server set up on my windows laptop, and had a mobassh.exe file on a usb, for installing on another computer, but i accidentaly installed it in this one, and when i deleted the mobassh server, i saw that the windows one went down too. I tried the sshd command on powershell, but that didnt work, i tried reinstalling, that didnt work, and i tried fixing the images with dism, but nothing worked. I really need this server to work, cos it makes life so much easier when i can just connect to it and put or get files from it.

    more info:

the ssh-agent service is running, its just the sshd service that has disappeared

i looked for it in services.msc and powershell and regedit, but it was simply not there

    :)

  2. sshd service not appearing after install

    Hi Benjamin-Dennison,

There could be some setting that might needs more configuring to be able to enable the service. In order to enable the service, you can perform the steps indicated on this
link as a guide in configuring the service to be enabled.
On the article, since you've already performed the installation of the service via
PowerShell, I suggest that you perform the steps starting from the section Installing with DISM.exe for further commands needed using the
Elevated Command Prompt. You might also want to perform a clean boot to ensure that there
are no other programs that might be causing the issue. If the issue still persists, you can test reinstalling the
SSHD Service on a different user profile and name it as
test, to ensure that all the settings are set to default and as comparison with the current user profile.

In the event that you encounter further issues, I recommend that you post your concerns here at out
Microsoft Developers Network Forums (MSDN), so other
IT Professionals & Specialists would be able to share their suggestions on what possible configurations or commands to use if you still experience the issue.

Hope this helps. Please don't hesitate to keep me posted for further assistance.

  3. The 'Photos' app for photo viewing has disappeared.

I do not understand this, when I returned to the PC later today my original settings had returned to the start screen, including one other tile which I had also lost but had not yet re-instated. Also the original list of 'All apps' had returned to the start
screen, including 'Photos'. There is nothing that I am aware of having done that should have caused the original disappearance of some apps from the 'All apps' list and their associated tiles, or that could have caused them to return.

It has therefore been unnecessary to follow your suggested steps, though I have done so anyway and it works as suggested. Note that I had followed your steps 1 & 2 earlier which is why I knew 'Photos' had not disappeared from the PC but was simply not
visible on the 'All apps' list and hence my inability to re-pin the tile.

Thank you for your reply and understanding my frustration.

  4. Sshd service has disappeared

sshd service not appearing after install

    Hello,

I have been attempting to re-install the SSH Server feature in Windows 10, however the sshd service itself has failed to reinstall. I have attempted this through both the "Option Features" menu and via the elevated Powershell command:

I assume that there are some left over registry keys and/or some file somewhere that the installer sees and therefore assumes the service still exists, however I have no idea what to look for.

    Thank you,
