Advanced protection against attack: With Office 365 Advanced Threat Protection, you're protected against attacks through hyperlinks within email subjects, attached messages, signed messages, network paths, and so on.

Insert Link Menu in Outlook will insert a link with permission defined by tenant admin: A link from the Insert Link MRU in Outlook would insert a link that only worked for users who already had permissions to it. This often caused back and forth emails between users asking to be granted access to a document. We've updated this experience so now the link is inserted with the default permission set by the tenant admin. For MSIT this is "organization can edit" so all internal users who receive a link shared this way will be able to access it.

This change allows Outlook to override certain time zone settings used by Outlook. In order to invoke a time zone override you must set a registry key for the current user. The registry key name must match the internal name of the time zone. The value indicates the time zone rule's year to be used in place of the effective year. For example, the following registry key override value will use the Brazilia time zone rule for the year 2020 as the effective rule. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\TimeZoneOverride]"E. South America Standard Time"=dword:000007e4.

Office 365 Semi-Annual Extended v1708 build 8431.2280 - July 10

These release notes provide information about new features, security updates, and non-security updates that are included in Semi-Annual Channel updates to Office 365 ProPlus in 2018.

Note

The following also provides information about new features, security updates, and non-security updates for Visio Pro for Office 365 and Project Online Desktop Client.

This information also applies to Office 365 Business, which is the version of Office that comes with some Office 365 plans, such as Business Premium.

Semi-Annual Channel was named Deferred Channel prior to January 2018.

These release notes provide information about new features, security updates, and non-security updates that are included in Semi-Annual Channel updates to Office 365 ProPlus in 2018.

Note

The following also provides information about new features, security updates, and non-security updates for Visio Pro for Office 365 and Project Online Desktop Client.

This information also applies to Office 365 Business, which is the version of Office that comes with some Office 365 plans, such as Business Premium.

Semi-Annual Channel was named Deferred Channel prior to January 2018.

Version 1708: July 10

Version 1708 (Build 8431.2280)

This is the Semi-Annual Extended Channel release that's been available since September 2017. It will continue to be supported and receive security updates until March 2019. But, a new Semi-Annual Channel release is now available — Version 1803 (Build 16.0.9126.2259) — which contains new features, security updates, and non-security updates*
