  1. Local .html files opening with file in Chrome/Edge

By default, when you right-click on an .html file in Windows Explorer, it opens with the header "file://" instead of "html://". Is there a way to change this default behavior in Windows, or is this something that is native to Edge/Chrome that is causing the issue?

    :)

    How To Open HTML Files

    Hi Doug,

You can open HTML files with Internet Explorer or the Edge Browser . . .

Right click an HTML file, choose Open - With

On the resulting dialog, check the box marked 'Always open html file . .. '

Then in the list look for Edge or Internet Explorer

If they do not appear, scroll to the bottom of that list and click 'More Apps' to find them

  3. Cannot open local HTML files with Google Chrome

I am trying to open a local HTML file but I get an error every time that I do. The error message is as follow:

Error: Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permission to access the item

I have checked the properties of the file and I do have access to everything about it and I have tried other HTML files too. These files open perfectly on Microsoft edge and internet explorer, but not with Chrome. I have updated, repaired and reinstalled google chrome but to no avail. I remember a while back I was tinkering with RegEdit so that may be the issue? I am not 100% sure though as I was not editing Google Chrome files.

    Thanks.

Timeout by Microsoft Edge 25.10586.0.0 reports with local HTML files

Microsoft Edge 25.10586.0.0 reported timeout and failed to read local HTML files after the latest Windows update January 2016.

All other browsers such as Safari, Chrome, Opera succeed to to read those HTML files from local hard disks,
as did the previous MS Edge version.

What is the max for its timeout ?

Can one adjust/set the timeout for MS Edge ?

Could it report the time it used and the defined time it had ?
