  1. Windows 10 forcing bios updates leaving computer unbootable

We have a fleet of desktops that all run various flavours of Asus motherboard. Recently I've discovered that their bios settings are getting messed up, which results in computers not being able to boot due to scrambled TPM settings. For some machines, the SATA setting is broken entirely so the computer doesn't know where to find the hard drive!

The only solution is to go into the bios and manually correct all the various settings. This is extremely frustrating and time consuming, especially when we're talking about having to manually fix almost 100 machines. A couple of machines have even been affected twice now!

Right now my assumption is that Windows Update is screwing something up. Is there some way to prevent windows 10 from installing bios updates?

    :)

    Windows 10 forced download

I actually had a client call yesterday with an email problem. when I tried walking him through some steps, he says "Yeah, I don't see that there, but I think it's because it's updated to windows 10. It did that a few weeks ago. I came back in on Monday, and it said Welcome to Windows 10"..... I think I'd throw the computer out the window.

^This, then reboot and go to manually update windows. Find KB3035583 in the list of available updates, right-click and "Hide this update" so it doesn't get installed again next go around.

Windows 10 forcing bios updates leaving computer unbootable

Windows 10 crashed after update and is now unbootable

The comments that were made were in addition those made dalchina so follow the steps that were outlined.
The comments that were made were only if you wanted to try additional troubleshooting steps.
They are command line steps as compared to windows steps.

For the registry backup via task scheduler a computer with windows 1703 displayed 9/26/2018; one with 1803 displayed 9/27/2018 and the one that was upgraded to 1809 displayed: 11/30/1999 (not yet run)

    None of these were scheduled.

There were no default settings modified after the upgrade to 1809:

Using Macrium the backup is an extra layer of protection.
Dalchina, what schedule modifications did you make for the computers?
If there is a computer that is not using a backup image what alternative schedule do you recommend?
