Windows 10: How to upgrade OneDrive

I am an administrator of workstation which is Windows 10 Enterprise Version 1803. Multiple users login as to the windows workstation as general user at my office, and I am the ones who patch and update the box. Currently I got following finding by vulnerability scan on OneDrive.

Microsoft OneDrive Elevation of Privilege


The version of Microsoft OneDrive installed on the remote Windows host is prior or equal to 20.084.0426.0007. It is, therefore, affected by an elevation of privilege vulnerability that allows file deletion in arbitrary locations.
To exploit the vulnerability, an attacker would first have to log on to the system. An attacker could then run a specially crafted application that could exploit the vulnerability and take control of an affected system.


<Solution>

Upgrade to Microsoft OneDrive version 20.084.0426.0007 or later.

I downloaded a patch from Microsoft site as follows, and I login as admin account to the Windows box, and I patched it, and I confirmed the version of OneDrive is upgraded to version 20.084.0426.0007 correctly on appwiz.cpl, then I scanned the box again, but the finding is still there. After I research it, I finally found out the cause of the issue. When I login to the Windows box with another account, it shows older version of OneDrive there, and it looks like each profile hold each OneDrive version, and even though I upgraded it with admin account, it does not upgrade the version of OneDrive to all profile. Each user have to login and patch it. It is so wired....


Does anyone know how I can upgrade OneDrive version to all users profiles at once? Any advice will be gratefully appreciated. Thank you.

Windows 10 - OneDrive

Right click on the app and one of the properties has an option to not automatically start it. Uncheck, restart the computer, and it should stop. If you want to go another step further, find the OneDrive app in the start menu, right click on it and uninstall.

If that is still insufficient, there is a batch uninstaller for OneDrive available online. I can copy the code here if you need it.

Upon analyzing this matter, it seems that
OneDrive is having issues in syncing your
Microsoft Account that causes the issue to occur. We suggest you to try these following methods and check if there's any changes:

Method 1: add/remove your account in OneDrive.

To do unlink your account, follow these steps:

• 
  Right-click on the
  cloud icon
  on the lower right of your screen.
  
• 
  Choose
  Settings.
  
• 
  On the
  Account tab, click on
  Unlink this PC.
  
• 
  Choose
  Unlink Account.
  

To add your account, just run OneDrive again the enter your credentials.

Method 2: reset OneDrive.

To reset OneDrive, follow these steps:

• 
  Press
  Windows key + R.
  
• 
  Type
  %localappdata%\Microsoft\OneDrive\onedrive.exe /reset
  
• 
  Click
  OK.
  
• 
  Make sure that the
  cloud iconor the
  OneDrive icon
  on the bottom right
  disappears.
  
• 
  If the icon doesn't
  re-appear after a few minutes, press
  Windows key + R
  and type
  %localappdata%\Microsoft\OneDrive\onedrive.exe
