    Hello. Just recently I had to give my laptop for repair due to faulty hard disk and when it came back, it had Home edition. Tried to use my Pro upgrade key (bought from retail) from a year ago again but it says "The product key you entered didn't work. Check the product key and try again, or enter a different one. (0xc004f050)". I have logged in with the same account both times and when checking devices, it does say the laptop has Pro edition. Is there any way to upgrade without purchasing it a 2nd time?

    I have a Surface Pro that originally had Windows 8.1 Pro. I have installed the free Windows 10 upgrade, but I now want to reinstall it. I want to completely wipe my hard drive and install Windows 10. I know this can be done, but I need a list of steps to
    get everything necessary to reinstall Windows 10 (including exporting settings & preferences) and how to wipe my hard drive. Are there any good places to get a good detailed list of steps to do these things? Thanks.

    hard disk bad sector repair in Windows 10

    Hi Mohqasim,

    Before proceeding further, please answer few queries.

    1. What is the make, and model of the Computer?

    2. What is the complete error message/code you receive?

    As per the description, I understand that there could be some bad sector in the hard disk.

    Meanwhile, I would suggest you to follow the below steps to run the check disk, and check.

    1. Press Windows + X, select Command prompt(Admin).

    2. Type the following command, and hit Enter.

    chkdsk /r/f

    Disclaimer: While performing check disk on the hard drive if any bad sectors are found on the hard drive, then chkdsk tries to repair that sector if any data available on that might be lost.
