  1. System image backup from non-bootable drive

My computer was recently rendered non-bootable when I recently attempted the Windows update to 2004. After much googling, many attempts, and a help forum thread, I'm pretty much resigned to having to do a clean install of Windows to restore the computer. But before I do that...

Is there a way to create a system image backup from the non-bootable drive? I can pull the drive and read it from another computer using a USB cradle (and have already done so). A bit iffy at this point what I'd use as my backup media but my other computer (the one I'm writing this from) has more than enough free space if the backup can be stored in a temp folder if that option exists.

I've already created a file backup of the non-bootable drive, but that would require reinstalling all my apps, recreating a lot of links, appdata, and so forth. If restoring from a system image would recover all of my installed apps, settings, shortcuts, etc., that would be much preferable to having to rebuild it all from scratch.

...and I promise to do a proper image backup (the easy way) of both computers once this is all said and done.

Is an Image Backup Drive bootable?

I have a new Win10 desktop with two internal hard drives. I am intending to create an Image Backup on the 2nd drive.

If my primary drive suffers a casastrophic mechanical failure which renders it inoperable, is the image backup drive bootable?

If not, can it be made bootable?

    Thank you. J.J.

    Multi-bootable USB

Hey guys from TPU, couldn't find any specific thread pertaining to the question asked on title. As mentioned, I'm trying to create a bootable USB, but with many specifics boots available.

I've been trying to create one with multiple boot device including one that enables me to run Windows 10 directly on the USB Thumb Drive but to no avail.

The list of bootable images i'm trying to create are

    1. Windows 10 (A full OS running from thumb drive)
    2. Windows 10 ISO (Bootable disk image for fresh install)
    3. MemTest86+

Have tried YUMI or UUI from the website USB PenDrive Linux but as this is my first time, i don't know how am i screwing up or am doing it right.. Anyone got a rough idea on a step by step guide? Thanks!

System image backup from non-bootable drive

Is an Image Backup Drive bootable?

    Dear ZigZag,

I used Acronis True Image religiously on my old XP system. Great product that bailed me out after a severe virus attack.

Of course I can buy Acronis again for this new computer but if the Image backup procedure on this new computer does the same thing, I would rather save my money.

Again, does Image Backup in Win10 produce a bootable hard drive?
